That's kind of a sad story. I sold the '61 356B Drauz Roadster to a friend. He later rearended another car which caused a lot of frontal damage to the Porsche.
At the time I also had a '62 356B D'ieteren twin grill Super 90 roadster that was missing it's engine and the floor pans were rusted through. This was before repro pans were available. Aside from the pans, the body was in very good shape structurally. I paid $400 for this car back in 1973 (!) There were only 248 or 249 of these '62 D'ieteren Roadsters built and they are hugely valuable today when restored correctly.
Anyway, the sad part is that I sold the '62 to my friend who used it as a parts car to repair the '60 by having a body shop graft the '62 front clip to the wrecked '61. It was actually a nice repair but in retrospect, the wiser move would have been to cut the floor pans out of the '60 and weld them into the '62. That way, there would still be an intact D'ieteren Roadster on the road. He still has the '61/62.
I apologize getting off topic but the story may be interesting to some.![Cheers](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/beerchug.gif)

When I was looking to buy my first Porsche, it took me along time to understand the price structure. There is no other car mark comparable. There are so many "factions" of "Porsche purists" and collectors. Certain models and special editions will always be desirable, 4.0 will be one of them.

4.0 is a nice car
not that nice. really its sort of 3.8RS is to Cup what 4.0 is to Grand-Am. I'd love to have one but north of $350K is GT3R money.
but prices will stay up. cause whoever bought a 4.0 is damn well not going to lose money and distress sales will be few and far between. so prices will be dictated by sellers.
sat in new 991 today. its the future. magnificent car.

Boy I thought I regretted selling my 07rs. I would hate to be one of the 4.0 owners that sold within the past year at 250k when they're now 350k+. Talk about regrets...
