911 GT3 RS 3.8 or 4.0
Good evening gents, I have been checking out this forum the last few days & feel like I'm ready to take the plunge! I currently have a 2013 458, California & M5, but I miss having a manual transmission. I'm leaning towards a 4.0 RS but if I can't find one then I'd purchase a 3.8 RS. Any help pointing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. I look forward to posting pics after my upcoming purchase )

Welcome and best of luck... If you can land a 4.0 RS its the car to have! If you plan on using it as a track basher, I'd go the 3.8RS and save paying big $$$ for exclusivity... Either way, you'll love it

FWIW--
I know of a white 4.0 with mild track use with some good track mods (LSD, 4th, 5th, 6th shortened, rollbar, harnesses, ss brake lines, aftermarket brakes, etc.).
Last week owner was offered 260ish from dealer and thinking of taking it - THIS WEEK. He is 100% selling the car and let me know to tell anyone that wants to TRACK a 4.0.
Great seller as I got my white 3.8 RS from him last year.
Car is located at Road America (no, it was not the white 4.0 that was doing DE during the club race labor day weekend).

Rahim, if you want to contact me offline at michaelkelter1@mac.com, I can direct you on the 4.0 aspect of your search.

3.8 is the bargain play. it's less than 1/2 the price of current 4.0.

[QUOTE=mooty;10747470]i can get you as many RS4.0 as you want in incredible shape (this is not a joke), no my is not for sale. feel free to pm me if you are SERIOUS. for ref, there's one in classified section white for 250000. that's great price. all the one's i know are WAY WAY over that asking price and they will sell at that HIGH HIGH asking price. no my asking price, dont blame me. it's the current mkt. scary i know. i am waiting for $500k offer on mine. and i think it's getting close.

It will probably take $500k to get me to sell my 112 mile 4.0 RS.

The reality maybe that the 3.8s are currently UNDER-valued and that will soon correct. 3.8s are rare and offer 9/10 what the 4.0 does.
In the broader collector Porsche market price shifts happen very quick. Early 911s as an example. A tier 1 67s went from a $150k car (last year) to a $250k this year...and climbing.
In my mind the price difference between a 3.8 and 4.0 GT3 RS should be around $100k given the exclusivity of the 4.0.
Bottom line, if you find a Tier 1 997.2 3.8 RS or 4.0 RS....buy it.

tier 1 3.9 are now at 160, maybe 170
in that spirit, ur extrapolation of Rs4.0 is pretty close.
tier 1 cars of course. like Riz's
i did. but you haven't answered your capital call yet. pay up, pal.
