My Singer 911 2014 Restoration

To those that may care (I don't even know if this is the right forum for this),
It is with tremendous excitement that I share that I have locked in the March 2014 build slot for a Singer Vehicle Designs machine. I had spoken to Rob back in early 2011 about his projects and the timing wasn't right for me. I knew however that SVD was working on something that was on an epic track. Fast forward to the summer of 2013 and I am trying to figure out how to capture more of that sense of special that the Carrera GT gives me. First car I never want to sell. I want more of those kinds of machines. I have been planning on selling my 458 Spider and reallocate that coin.
After carefully considering all the principles that I value, in particular ultimate quality, excellence, and design, I think the Singer product embodies those more than anything else in the automotive world in terms of being The Perfect Machine for my appetites. I am selling the 458 spider back to my dealer and I believe I will get MSRP + 5/10k for it. This leaves only a relatively small delta for me to drop in for the Singer. Incredibly expensive but in delta vs value space space I think its totally justified..and it has 4 seats for my 2 kids to ride!
I look forward to keeping this thread updated as things progress.
In the meantime, if you have links to Epic Classic Porsche Colors that could inspire please share!

I'd be interested to see a list of key build specs: Engine choice, extent of CF usage in the bodywork, suspension setup, interior trim, any special twists you plan to include, etc.

Given Singer isn't beholding to Porsche, I think Gulf Blue would be the go. May the patience be with you. I'm sure you're in for a lot of fun and an enviable 911.
You know you should jettison that boat anchor black Carrera GT to raise the funds. I'd be happy to help you get that albatross off from around your neck ... : )
As for the Singer (didn't they make sewing machines?) if you're thinking of engine options, I'd suggest a 993 twin turbo, 750hp. This will give you a 2500lb car that doesn't disappoint even if you step straight out of the Carrera GT.
Forget the warmed over 964 derived engines -- lighter than the 993 engines but still too heavy, and what are you driving ... it's not a 964 and it's not an early 911? So why not go for some power and be able to shut down anything short of another hot rod 911?
Otherwise, go with a period correct 2.7 or 2.8 or 3.0, go to RS or RSR flares accordingly, then get exotic in the power room with slide valves and cold air induction. Personally, I'd be tempted to go for a 2.2 or 2.4 turbo: there's more to learn, harder to drive well, suited to the lightweight motif and still capable of circulating any given track at a respectable pace and get the most out of that beefed up chassis.
Maybe that takes me full circle to getting Ruf to do something personal. The dollars Singer VD ask would surely get you in the door of Ruf and the car would be blessed with significance.
Another thought would be to have the roof line of a fixed head coupe dropped to the Speedster windshield line. Still ample headroom, still indistinguishable from the classic 911 silhouette, but murdericiously irreverent.
Whatever you decide to do, once you're into these stratospheric budgets, excellence is expected.: )

Meet one of the principles of Singer two weeks ago at Supercar Sunday in LA. Seemed like a very genuine person and he invited me too the facility. As much as I would love a Singer here is my current order of wanted Porsche cars.
1) Black or red CGT
2) Black or orange .1RS
3) Tie between black 4.0 and singer
Congrats to OP and I would go with a dark rich black as well and try to incorporate some of Carrera Gt's ideas.
