Default Rental for Nurburgring

Just finalized the flights and am happy to say I am going to be able to drive the Ring! Any thoughts on a rental? I'd love to do it in a Porsche but they are $$$. Obviously I am not going to be pushing it, they'll be pleasure laps, so it's not about speed. Probably more about optimizing for familiarity in the car. I guess any old car with a cage will do, but part of me wants to have the experience in a GT3. (no one seems to rent the GT2)

Any of you do it? Thoughts? Recommendations?

Just come back yesterday. Finally been to the green hell. Fantastic experience, there is no track like the ring. The car will jump and dancing all the time.
I rent a track prepared M3 at Rent4ring. Bloody fast and esay to drive. They don't allow to turn off the traction control but I'm still having tons of fun.

During the touristenfahrten, German road traffic law applies to the whole of the Nordschleife. So it is a highway road, you don't need helmet and drive as comfortable as you can.

here is the footage

Rent4Ring is good and partners with BTG. Also check out RSR, they're good too and sponsor events @ Spa. There are several others if you dig around a bit. Should you go the P car route or other higher end rental cars, make sure you read the fine print. IIRC, GT3 deductible run around 25K Euro. While road rules do apply to TF days, try to remember to use your turn signal when allowing faster traffic to pass you so they know you see them. IMO, the more safety equip the better, wear a helmet at a minimum.

Good Luck!

rsring or rent4ring are good. don't get a too-fast car, a gt3 will scare you.

It is always like this. Once you go to the ring then you want to go again.
I was there first time in 2004. Since then i go every year .

I would recommend RSR. I did Spa 02.07 and the Nordschleife 03.07 in a Clio RS with them - great experience. I agree with above - don't need a high hp car the first few times - lot's to learn like Hatzenbach, Adenauer Forest, Metzgesfeld/Kallenhardt/Wehrseifen and Brunnchen. I would suggest a 320 km trackday package with RSR and take instruction for a half-day. Simon was my instructor - great guy and knew the track well - really helped with the learning. So many corners ...

I had a great experience with www.rentracecar.de

Was easy, sent an e-mail, called to follow up and everything was ready when I got there.
I just got the slowest RWD car they had which was a BMW 120I and it was more than enough for the first day or 2. If you don't know the ring your lap time will be the same in a GT3 ;-)
Than again if you are still in your first 50 laps going for lap time all a GT3 will do is make you hit the wall harder LOL.

I did 6 fast laps behind a coach in the same car, so I knew where to go, on my own I had no idea if I was going left or right and what speed at every other corner

A buddy of mine used them and had nothing but great things to say about the experience. Went with the gt3 clubsport with a coach for 2 full days (he races cup cars). Said it was worth every penny. He said the coach was necessary to learn the line quickly, and took him a full day to memorize the track enough where he could push the car to 8/10. With a huge deductible on the car he didn't want to push harder!

Nice lap woshimihei. You were setting up for blind turns, so you knew the track. How did you learn it? Video sims?

the funny thing is the owner of the rent4ring does not believe a 24 year old guy owns a GT3RS and worries about me crashing his M3...
