So here's a question: Does the fact my .1 RS doesn't drip oil (it does have a little seepage, but does not drip a drop since I've had it) or smoke on startup mean I got a fake? Or maybe not driving it hard enough!

Actually the zero lash adjusters have very very small clearances and an oil can be too heavy and thus interfere with the proper operation of these. There is also the risk at higher revs the oil is too thick to make it to where it should be. The oil has to be fluid enough to flow into really tight places and fully flow into really tight places.

Not too many GT3's that don't smoke a bit at initial start up. I'd be concerned if it continued 5 or so seconds after starting.

I haven't seen smoking on startup-maybe it's because I run the 5W-50 oil, the level is just right, and when I drive the car it's always a proper warm up-and after starting, afaik you shouldn't let the car sit there warming up too long, but drive away in a gradual manner until temp gauge shows you're fairly warm-and when I get back, I run the car a few minutes while I re-check oil level before shutting off.
9 1/2 qts is the right amount, more might be a problem. If you have someone else do your oil, I'd say get a reading with normal running temp, level. If it's above, crack open the drain on crankcase and let some out-
