Default no love for Gt2......

why does the Gt2 not get mentioned here much.. It's all Gt3/RS/4.0......

what about the Gt2 or Gt2RS? faster, trickier and deadlier......

Coz it's forced induction and this is an NA thread or was that a trick question?

205 GT2 units in the US. Similar # of GT2RS. Now compare that to GT3/RS production. GT2 gets plenty of love from those that own and drive them, but those are outnumbered tenfold by the NA owners.

This is the reason.

Nick said it. Relatively few people have driven a GT2 on track & this forum is predominantly frequented by track folk. GT2's are faster(der). Especially white ones

Keep in mind the litmus of owning AND driving them. I barely qualify for the second, 8k miles into my third year of ownership (but many of those miles are track miles). Mine is a keeper- I think many 3/RS owners never consider long term ownership, but those who have a 2/RS know they are irreplaceable, so more chances at ownership=larger pool of owners/prior owners. Driving a 3/RS at the limit is fun- driving a 2/RS at the limit is a commitment.

If gt2 or rs ever made the sound of gt3 engine the gt3 would b forgotten. It's a faster car on track and better car for the street.

I have driven 1 996 GT2, and 3 997 GT2.

Most boring 911 ever made, worst sound from any 911 ever made, most isolation of any 2WD 911 ever made, Turbo Lag, dull, boring looking...

But it goes fast in straight line, and so does a $5,000 Mustang Drag car, and a Nissan GTR.

Drive one, and make you own opinion.

Some have driven the even faster and lighter 997 GT2 RS, and they still prefer the 997 3.8 RS, and the 4.0RS is even more fun, and the Scuderia a lot more fun than a 4.0RS.

I wouldn't know about the Scuderia as I have never driven one on the track.
Although I still own a 993TT modified to ~500HP and there is something about the kick in the pants that keeps me driving it.

Why you ask? For the same reasons why the Cup car and RSR are not turbo charged....

IMHO,The GT2 makes awesome power but the GT3 engine is magical.

Turbos are faster in a straight line. 2/RS and 3/RS share basically the same chassis. If you can't figure how to drive a 2/RS fast you definitely won't drive a 3/RS fast either- you should just give up and get a Scud.
