It always surprises me how many people don't do this.......

I honestly don't worry about the splitting, people forget that Nittos turn into basically a full slick, and most of the time, these splits aren't close to the full depth of the tire. Just rotate side to side, and flip.

Anybody who has split tires that wants to sell them to me, please let me know, I'll be happy to use them.

I would do group buy--in for 3 sets. I heard July earliest on rears.

+1...I want the 245 fronts though. Somehow the last set of fronts I picked up were 235's (which had splitting) and I never noticed it until they were on the car and I was making shock changes chasing front grip. 6 months later I realized I'm running smaller front tires. I should probably pay closer attention to details from now on.

About 4 sessions on this tire. It's another 36th week of 13 tire. Think I should try the swapping-rotational-direction trick, or replace?

Have you seen post #58 in this thread? Check it out as you may want to talk to the people at Nitto that powdrhound talked to.

Carbon copy of my tire after 4 sessions. I'm guessing this was on the left side of the car? Put the wheel/tire combo on the right side of the car so it rolls the other way and it will close up and eventually wear away. It did for me. I have 22 sessions on the tires and both the fronts and rears are close to a slick now.

Yup, was on the driver's-side rear, as you suspect.

I saw all the previous posts and mainly I was wondering if, were I to swap sides, is the tear in the splice bad enough that it would heal up...? Your experience seems to indicate yes, but I think my tear might be a little more ragged than yours was.

I'm willing to take them off your hands and try them on my car to see if I can make the split go away. I'll promise to report my findings...

One of mine looked similar. It went away.

Don't mind splitting or chunking unless it's rt at the sidewall. So if u don't think it's safe I take them off your hands as well : ). Mike

If we could get Peter to run them, he might be able to do that many by himself
I'm interested

Update: as you guys suggested, the splice went away after rotation.
