No I don't think there should have been a choice - it should have been a manual all along.

In order of care:
1) GT3 shares as many parts with 991 cup car as the 7GT3 did with 7Cup (face palm)
2) Steering feedback (to be seen)
3) Durability with track use (to be seen)
4) weight (face palm)
5) Transmission (face palm)

Long live the "NEW" and "BEST" auto-manual there is. I always thought (and wanted, even as a kid) that Porsche would have what Ferrari had.. Unfortunately, they (Ferrari's that is) are 3x as expensive and I could/and never would buy one at that price. NOW, MAYBE for the first time in a long time we'll get a transmission as good as the F-1? I don't know how good PDK-S is, and it maybe a dud once I drive it (current 991's PDK sucks sand) but one can always hope, right? I have paddled-shifted Ferrari's, M3's and McLaren's "drifting" around me in T7 at Infineon (I know, Sonoma :-(..) shifting several times BEFORE, DURING and after the turn.. What I do? Stare (not really) at my alcantara-covered and beautiful stick-shift that by the time I reach for it, the Ferrari already has shifted three times? Gets depressing after a while... So I think I'd like to go with the times and try the new PDK :-) Maybe if you live in the "Hinterland" (that's everywhere east of the left coast :-), you can USE your manual but here, living among 5 million people and 10 million bicycles (that's a joke!), it's just a matter of time before you run someone over... So, the racetrack is your only sanctuary! And that DEMANDS and DESERVES the best and fastest transmission... No flames, please :-) I'm going to buy a 991 GT3 anyway and you can have my beautiful alcantara-shifted "old" 997.2!

i am not the boss at PAG. if i were, i put pdk in every car. if you dont like, pls go buy yourself a bmw and be done with it.

drive the pdk, it's far better than you can shift
some argue about 'FEEL' and 'CONNECTION' oh pls. i drove my full on race spec miata to office in suit, no ac. i commuted 20k miles in lotus exige in 10 months. i know what 'FEEL' is. and 99% of the talkers here cannot take the abuse of 'FEEL' and 'CONNECTION'.

1/2 the GT3 guys worry about scraping the fakking lip spoiler. i dont stop for bumps, i ripped off lip, brake ducts and sometimes bumpers. you want 'FEEL'. try hitting a dip at 50 miles per hour. it 'FEEL' fabulous. you have to try it once. the $bill may be high after the impact. the the 'CONNECTION' and 'FEEL' is great.

ok.. i got to work harder to become the CEO of PAG.

PAG had better have their PDKs better sorted than parent company VW who can't even put together boxes to withstand the riggers of supermarket shopping and daily school runs... I can't wait to see how the pdks respond to track abuse... best of luck to the adopters of the new technology when the king of DSG is making headlines like this and Porsche has demonstrated cutting edge engineering with their CL program...

I subscribe to the KISS philosophy... 'Keep It Simple Stupid' especially when buying something to flog hard on a track... That's what a track focused car like the GT3 needs to be to ensure customers aren't bled dry with running costs, particularly with the honouring of warranties and product support demonstrated in recent years...

It seems to me that as soon as the POLL became anonymous the vast majority of MANUAL voters was pretty much cancelled by the PDK-S voters, which I found surprising and interesting...
I guess it tells us Porsche does have a market for PDK-S even among us hardcore enthusiasts.
If you haven't voted yet, please do so on the 991 GT3 forum.
Thanks.

Give it some time to pan out neanicu... There was never a doubt that there would be a market for PDK! It should have been made an option, just not the only one and Porsche's current direction is currently catering for 40% of this small sample, before it catered for 60%... Keen to see how the numbers look after a couple days once a greater sample have voted...

Lets hope we get 150-200 votes to make it a little more meaningful and indicative...

PDK. It'll keep the value of my .2 in demand.

Meh, choice. Who needs it? Imagine if there were no arranged marriages or restaurants with single-item menus. What a world......
