Track was warm, but my guy still went as quick as he's ever gone, more than a couple of times. Agreed with the Subaru. Just not an event for the gently driven cars...

Clarke and Sly were there. Great to hang out with and to share the track. I'm sure Clarke will post some videos. There are too many that can keep up with him. There wasn't that many cars but it seemed that everyone was out on the track all the time and there was a massive delta in lap times out there....and this has nothing to with the cars themselves (the train of Miatas was never an issue). However, there was a subaru stationwagon and others there that should have been taken off the track. The 90 degree weather made the track probably less than optimal in terms of setting lap times.
To be clear it was a great event. Everyone was super courteous on the track and it was run flawlessly. I did 325 track miles and I didn't even use the second half of the second day.
Time to book the lodge for the Sept D.Murry event....

Common cars I kept seeing that were at the extreme end of the delta...the Subaru station wagon from Edmunton complete with roll bar, a very slow orange mustang, a red older corvette and a few GT3's which werent going at their usual brisk pace. The wagon, mustang and vette seemed to be doing driver instruction but they were running novice pace and slow to give points. Only took meeting one of these cars in the wrong place and the lap was shot. Heat didnt help either, it was more like late June/July for VIR with temps above 90.
Did like passing on straights with no point required (only in corners). That helped a lot getting through traffic.
Organization from Mark and David was excellent - and quality of the event overall was very very good.

LOL @ the music all of a sudden blasting going into oak tree. I can imagine what that sounded like from that corner station, and maybe going down the front straight.
LOL @ the yellow Corvette who just decides to drag race the back straight only to over slow and give a point by in the braking zone. Some Corvette guys trip me out.

Thanks guys. I appreciate the kind words and the fact you continue to be the main reason that our events are what they are.
Clarke: great music selection - I'll forward your video to the guy who was with us at Sebring.
Mike: sorry to miss you. Road Atlanta next month??
Hope to see you all again soon.

Irene and I had a great time at the event. While there were some slower cars/drivers out there, it didn't dampen my enthusiasm. I still got tons of clean laps in. Here was my best 2:07.7 in the Spec Racer Atom. It was my second time at VIR and first time with the Atom.

2:07.7 is a great time at VIR in a SPec: Race Atom, Dave. Podium or very near in the last couple races.
