The pdk has to be less fragile than the clutch pp in a rs

Did you notice a wind buffeting issue? That and the inability to fit an 18" wheel were deal breakers for me when I looked at the 991 S. I loved the DCT (PDK) in my e92 M3 so that would be a plus for me.

OP, which would you say is more fun then? Sounds like the 991S has the potential to be as fast as your RS, so just curious of your opinion. Thanks for the post.

Let me know when the Dark Knight is going on the market. I suspect about 15 minutes after you drive a 991 GT3.

Don't talk to Nick. he's selling his car and getting a house, wife, kid and VW Passat.

I drove a 991S at Sebring. Loved it. I'm convinced using the same tires it would be faster my car. The new GT3 is going to be a beast.

I hop in his car and do 1:31.7 after only 3 laps with room for more. his car is bone stock with only an alignment and michelin supersports. i was so shocked after the 3rd lap, i just brought it in back to the pits. so now i can only imagine how fast the 3 and the RS will be with PDK.
i still love my manual and wont be getting rid of it anytime soon, but i see why porsche has made the switch
Thanks Mike...glade you had fun and thanks for the open mind report.

Jenks can you elaborate more on the PDK and Suspension. Were you manually shifting ?? Did you compare manual shift to auto ?? How was the feel compared to the manual ??
What was the suspension setup on the 991, PDCC ?? How did that feel ??

The GTR is probably one of the fastest cars out there; yet, it receives the most criticism for its lack of feel. In addition, it can make an average driver appear to be highly skilled. Someone please explain to me how the 991 is so much more different than the GTR. The 991S that I drove felt totally disconnected than what I am accustomed to in my 997.1. Would I buy a 991? Yes, as a daily driver not as a track car.

Disconnected may not be the right term. The threshold for "fun" starts a lot higher with the 991. Driving the 991 at fun 997 speeds IS boring because the 991 is much more competent at those lower levels (in my opinion).

The opposite is true too- the higher speeds require a competent driver, or calamity can result. Bad things happen a lot faster (exponentially in my opinion) with the increase of speed.

actually i did notice the wind noise and was wondering what the hell it was. it wasnt consistent but it was on all the fast sweepers

i still think the manual is more fun to drive to me. its a great feeling when your in sync with the gearbox and getting all your rev matches done properly
but there is no question with the same tires fitted, the 991S could match the lap times

haha, the dark knight will be in my garage for a while but like they, everything is for sale at the right price
no wonder nick has been so quiet lately

i actually left in manual the entire time and it picked the right gear everytime. there were a few times where the pdk doesnt shift until redline, where i wanted to short shift and keep the car more planted. so that was the only time i actually hit the paddles. so i cant really compare the manual mode vs auto. suspension was pretty good, still a soft car as far as the rubber bushing and mounts but it got the job done

ive never driven a GTR so i cant compare. with pdk you are able to go a lot faster and focus on your driving, so if you able to drive 9 or 10/10 then you will be totally focused on what your doing even if the car is shifting for you.
