Default Drove a 991S today...whoa!!

well i have always been one for the manual and always will. however, i had an eye opening experience by getting to drive my buddies 991S with aerokit on the the track today. atlanta motorsports park is a short technical track with no real straight away, so HP doesnt really matter there. my best time ever has been a 1:29 on ra1's in my RS.
I hop in his car and do 1:31.7 after only 3 laps with room for more. his car is bone stock with only an alignment and michelin supersports. i was so shocked after the 3rd lap, i just brought it in back to the pits. so now i can only imagine how fast the 3 and the RS will be with PDK.
i still love my manual and wont be getting rid of it anytime soon, but i see why porsche has made the switch

Thanks for the write-up. No doubt, PDK is fast! I am definitely going to reserve judgement on the 991GT3 until I can drive it on the track.

So the big question - how did the car feel on the track? How does it feel compared to the Dark Knight?

Blake, definitely a different feeling. Of course not as dialed in as my car but it wasn't bad at all. Car was very stable with not much body roll that was noticeable after 3 laps. Brakes were good but didn't stop as fast as my car, but tires could help that out as well.
There were times when I needed to shift the pdk so it wouldn't stay so high in the rpms when the car was on edge

Fast is a relative term.

Imagine how I feel, it's already faster than a .1

Nothing wrong with peeking over the fence. We all do it just not all of us admit it.

Thanks for posting; I really think the 991 is a very good all around 911.
I can't wait to try one on the track & am optimistic that the 991GT3 will be a very good car.
