Default Question: Bay Area dealer who will cpo private party sale

Any reqs for this? Called a couple and tales to sales managers and they have no desire to do this. Which is odd because my local dealer in LA was fine with it and detailed exactly what they would do and the price. Seemed simple.

they would have to buy the car from you and resell it back as a CPO.....this is why

I had Gary Quibelan at Carlsen do this for me. Real great guy. You can reach him here: 650-701-9200x114.

Correct, and they make a few $ on the inspection and the warranty, and possibly any needed repairs. The couple LA dealers I talked to were perfectly fine with it, and walked me through the process. Up here it's like I'm talking another language to the sales managers. Nice guys, but not super creative ...

Mind sharing your dealer/contact in LA who would do this?

Also any one know how much it costs to get a car CPO'ed?

Thanks

I’d like to hear some more opinions as the what it costs to get the car CPO’ed as well. What I’ve heard is that the dealer cost is about ~2k plus whatever it takes to get the car in the proper condition.

Inspection (~350) plus cost of cpo (~2400) plus repairs plus a little profit for their trouble. Figure min 3k.

do they care about non oem rotors/brakes/exhaust/wheel?

If you outright own the car now and want to get CPO, dealer has to buy back the car and you gotta buy it back PLUS tax. I dont think this is a good idea for me. Any "work around"

My dealer required me to return everything to stock before they could CPO (exhaust, ECU tune etc.). I'm pretty sure the dealer doesn't have to actually take ownership, you should just be able to pay the $2.5K to get it certified. I should preface by saying my case was unique since the dealer also arranged financing for me.

Ask a friendly dealer about aftermarket warranty options - they can be good value if you can find one that covers gt cars

Just another option

Often times if the car is still under original warranty the inspection can be waived (so no putting it back to stock hassles)

Guess it depends on your relationship...my local dealer recommended I CPO before factory warranty is over. "A couple thousand."

like mentioned above, the dealer has to own the car, the inspection itself is around $300 then the CPO warranty is 2,300 plus what ever is needed to met specs. most dealer won't/don't want to do this as its against the dealer franchise agreeement
