Regarding the RS3s, a fellow S2000 track guy I talked to recently said that they have grip comparable to NT-01 when they are brand new, but it falls off over a certain amount of heat cycles.

In other words, it doesn't possess the NT-01's quality of full stick until you see cords.

Stickiest "street" tire I've ever driven in stock sizing is the Trofeo R. Love them but they wear fast. While cheaper than MPSC, they wear faster so at the end of the day, I'm guessing the cost would be about the same. I'm not sure about heat cycles when used on the street but would still guess they would wear out before cycling out. Savy has more experience with them than most so hopefully he could chime in.

I love the RS3's and think they are a small step down from the MPSC's in grip but a huge increase in wear and much lower in cost. I hated the RE-11's and didn't think they had as much grip as the RS3's. Steering response was not as good as any of the other options either. Not a fan of the R888's at all.

Toyo R888 are aweful plus they have a tread seem splitting issue lately. I had 4 tires returned back to Tire Rack for warranty. I could not safely recommend Toyo R888 anymore.

Narrow body?
245/315 nitto has tc issue on my RS
Three other ppl drove it and felt it
Tc off, no prob
Hoosier 255/335 no prob with or without tc

When I say tc issue: when u get to 55 mh, tires are slipping, feel like u hit soft rpm limiter

My thoughts exactly. Almost twice as much as NT01/AD08/RS-3.

I have th ad08s - they have a stiff sidewall, love heat, gotten 5 track days on it and still have 40-50% tread.

My friend who has a M3, ran rs3 and ad08 states that the rs3 are slightly faster.

In 19s, we don't have much choice. Cup tires or trefeos or rs3/toyo/yoko. 1500 to 2000 for 3-6 days of fun.

I use the MPSS in the wet and RS3 for days forecast to be dry... Hankook RS3s are light years ahead in the dry! Progressive, great feedback, no chunking, no heavy graining, even wear and no ABS intervention under heavy braking as well as much easier to get on the gas sooner with far less TC intervention...

Recently out on a 35oC day and even that didn't cause them to chunk or grain. I did over 80 laps that day with times within 2 sec of my pro driver's best time in my car... They are phenomenal... I'd say 95+% of the MPS Cups (maybe 1-1.5 sec off MPSC on a 1:45 track) without the greasiness, chunking, and quick deterioration or H/cycling and yet at less than 2/3 the price... My DE tyre until I'm worthy of slicks or hooters...

This is an excellent comparison to the MPSS/MPSC and exactly the data I was looking for. At this point, the RS3's seem like a no brainer.

I couldn't have said it better for RS3's, though I haven't had them on my GT3 yet, I had MANY sets on my M3's.

305/30 19 245/35 19 AD08's are a couple hundred less and are very close to RS-3 in performance if you want to save a couple of shekels.

I am on the same boat.

Currently i am on MSS and i have limited my choice to either the AD08s or the RS3s... Mind you that i have a heavier car (09 4S PDK) and i AutoX a lot, the MSS hold up really nicely, plus i have the advantage if it rains!

For 19s it seems that the best true street tire is the AD08 with a great price currently from Tirerack. In Japan they have the new AD08R which is the same exact tread but different compound, probably even closer to a true R-Comp... We might see them here next year...

The RS3s in our size (235/305) are more expensive, while for other cars like 18s, 17s or even 16s, they are actually cheaper than the AD08s!!! very confusing! I might just try the AD08s this year and then maybe the RS3s...

+1 for Trofeo R

It is a fast, fast, FAST tire. Yes, it wears quick, but you can get 5-6 track days out of it without issue, so long as your alignment is aggressive enough. Superb tire.

I just installed a set of the new Dunlop Sport Maxx Race tires on the GT2. I'll give a report when I have some info.
