Clearly this car seems like a good deal. Some normal wear from a daily driver, and miles, but (probably) easily cleaned up...

So here's a question for all you GT3 RLers -- if you had the option between this example (at say 90-95, plus maybe 5k in fixes needed) or a .1 gt3 rs with 20k miles, very clean, similar history (minimal track time, good driver, no "history", and no work needed at all) for about 80k... to be used as a weekend driver, canyon runs, a few DE a year... and keep car for 3-5 years, which is your pick?

You need to find the advice of a few folks who can drive who've tracked both 997.1 and 997.2 RS's in at least similar setup.

I've set up a 997.1 GT3 and a 997.2 RS and the .2 is hands down the most fun I've had since first setting up a 993 Turbo in 2WD with a lot more horsepower. There are issues you'd want to consider in owning the RS 3.8 over the RS 3.6 (which will surely be the less loss on resale, less cost to own, less operating costs) but car for car, if you have a budget that spans $80K+ to $100K+, I'd say the .2 is so good, you'll regret not having had the car.

All that said, I'd be wary of this high miler RS. Have it CPO'd and be sure it's not carrying any baggage. That's not to say don't buy it, but certainly tread cautiously, caveat emptor, trust and verify, all that stuff. So long as the documentation stacks up with correct service history and a dealer tech inspection confirms the car is "unmolested" and there's no stories, I think you can take it as stated that it's just a fairly priced high miler and the private seller wants a quick sale without the loss of giving it to a dealer for wholesale (which would be an horrific number for a niche car with 5x typical miles.)

Mooty, agreed, there is no debate of which is better, I think my question really got down to budget as to which is the better buy given these 2 options as an example. To find a .2 in similar condition to the .1 I mentioned above is a 120k+ car in the current environment. That's a 40k spread (not including maintenance and depreciation). So is it 40k better? That's a question only the buyer can answer. I think many here would argue yes. Given my personal use, that buys a lot of driver instruction time and tires. This is an expensive hobby, and I have too many expensive hobbies (according to my wife!).

Appreciate all the feedback... I'm looking to jump into the gt3 world, porsche bug bit me bad after picking up my first 18mo ago and weighing a few options.

If the cheap 60K mile one checks out, I would put that saved 40K in the car, strip it, mod it, full suspension, regear transmission, tune, headers everything etc. and write it off on the spot as you will never build a faster more dependable, cool street car or get your money back.

Right, I do that already. But good point, I cant see a DD RS wearing out ever.
Probably good fro 500K street miles if well maintained.

I don't know about yellow belts, but here's the description:
No affiliation. I don't think it's a bargain at $95K, but it's probably close to fair value. Anyone thinking about a GT3 or RS should at least getting the details on this car and be fully informed of the market. Perhaps folks asking $140K+ (me) for a low mile stripper should be considering a market moving lower? The only thing is, from my perspective, we're in a bull market and that's all there is to it. Porsche decided to stop making GT cars that appeal to 997 and 996 GT3 and RS owners in the track junkie demographic, so my motivation will be to shift to an RS 4.0 from the RS 3.8, but the cost of the 4.0 as a track toy is a little unsettling to the financial stomach, not to mention the extreme stomach turning of being passed by those smug 991 GT3 drivers … : )

I also think 95k is a fair asking price given miles. Seems seller has seen a lot of action on the car and is questioning his original listing price.

Question: Estimate on MSRP of this car based on options listed?

This car for 95K makes my car at 130K with all extras included, as well as OEM parts a bargain.
