Uhh, you know they sell motegi wheels in Pepboys. I had a set on my Jetta around the time that the first Fast and Furious movie came out when I was in high school....

^^Exactly...even for lower priced cars they are generally regarded as crap knock off wheels. Definitely wouldn't put them on my Evo, much less a Porsche. I would choose a wheel that isn't experimenting with forged wheels and rather one that specializes in the process. Not all forging is equal.

In the grand scheme of things I would certainly place Motegi wheels below Rota and rotas are known to be cheap cast track wheels that you won't cry about when you break them since you can replace them for less than the cost of a tire.

Default Motegi Wheels

Late to this party but wanted to post some info about Motegi Racing Competition Wheels. They are Forged in California and Precision Milled in a TUV approved facility in Italy. This is distinct from the Cast Imported wheels Motegi Racing offers to the general aftermarket. The Forged wheels are an FIA Homologated race part in Factory Ferrari, Viper, and Mazda race programs showcased in IMSA, WEC, And PWC events, among many others racing venues around the globe. Select Street-legal vehicle fitments are now available on TireRack under the Motegi Racing Competition Brand and we continue our Motorsport efforts in F1, Indy Lights, and SportsCar racing in order to produce the highest quality wheel with the best performance available in the market. We recently announced our 996 and 997 Cup Car offering, the cup car wheels are approx. 5lbs lighter than BBS or APP wheels. You can read about them here at Competition Motorsport's website. They are a dealer for the line.

I have 3 piece BBS track wheels for the GT3 and RS which are light but not that strong. On 001 we use the Motegi wheel which is great, it's both really light and very strong. And Motegi was great to deal with. You will not be disappointed with the Motegi wheels, they are as good as if not better than the 1 piece BBS wheels!

'the two wheel styles I have always just loved are Panasports on English Cars, and BBS on Porsche's. Here is my "new" GT3 with BBS LM-R's.

all the best....

Hard to pass up BBS wheels and probably wouldn't, but I have been eyeing the Motegi's for a while. This company has been around for a long time with quality reputation, just not on a German car.

Ferrari is using them also now along with other teams.

Motegi Racing is not a sponsor, nor a member but we are looking into advertising options with the National Advertising Executive at Internet Brands.
I was providing information to clarify on the product offering and respective competition level accomplishments of the Motegi Racing wheels as there seemed to be a lack of clarity on the topic.
