Default best 997 gt3

Guys,

Im looking to buy a 997 gt3. In your opinion, is there one particular year that stands out as the more desirable?

Were there recall issues, defective issues in some models? If you had to do it over again, which 997 gt3 generation would you go with?

Thanks for the info

Leon

Seriously depends on several factors. Track/street and funds willing to invest for starters.

Most desirable is the one with the best performance, RS 4.0.

They are all good, best bang for the buck would be a 2010-2011 RS IMO.

Yes, the 4.0 is the best, but at $100K more then a 3.8RS.

they are all good. None of them were duds.

All depends on how much money you have to spend.

set your budget and buy accordingly.

Having had a few of the versions - best is 2010/11 GT3 (not RS). Never breaks. Thing is bullet proof. In 20k miles, 17k of that on the track, never had a parts failure that was not because of... me. I broke my centerlocks by tightening them to 600 ft lbs (instead of 600 NM). I stripped a rear caliper bolt once by not threading it in correctly. Then I broke the caliper stud by forgetting to tighten the nut. I am on my third clutch. That is it. That car is silly. Almost 1.5 years left of my warranty -- then drive it til it blows. The next wear item will be the transmission, somewhere around 25k to 30k miles it will have to have new syncros (spelling?).

2007 GT3.1 club sport spec in Green of course.

There isn't a bad model, just a model to fit a budget.
