Hi everyone , thinking of buying a 997 gt3 rs which has done 10 k miles but hasnt been serviced since 08 due to being in a collection , would this be a problem ? Its done less than a thousand since. Looking at an enjoyable investment but would the lack of service history be a problem in the future when selling ? Also lack of use a problem ?

If you plan to drive it, get all the fluids changed along with the tires and enjoy the car. In my opinion, not really a collector vehicle with 10k miles on the clock.

I assume you mean since 2008

Did it have 10k on the clock then serviced and parked?

If the car never had service done and still driven 10k I'd say no.

Otherwise if the car just sat you should be OK. Regardless have a dealer do a PPI.

As you can imagine these cars should have regular maintenance but if it just sat there are not too many factors that I'd be concerned with IMO.

If I take your post correctly was driven only roughly 1000 miles since 08. Make sure to get good PPI. Biggest concern IMHO is seals and such with minimal driving. If exercised semi regularly obviously better.

Agree with all of the above. Even with low miles, a car that hasn't been moved in that long of a period can have problems.

1. there are no 997 in 1998????
2. this collection you buying from is a bad collection. serious collectors will maintain the car driven or not.
3. lack of use is not a prob, lack of proper service will be. have someone go through the car.
4. btw, 10k mile 997.1RS are not hard to find. you can keep on looking.

Thanks for your advice...pretty much common sense really, ( sorry 08 !! doh)....
Prepared to wait for the right one. I am from UK so harder to locate.

a parked car is not so bad if you have it properly looked over.

My RS sat for a year before i had it fully serviced and then used at Sebring for 4 days.
