At some point, we won't have any options.

Until then, you'll find me in a 996/997/Corvette/Viper.

realistically all they have to do at the factory is to offer an option to get sequential cup car gearbox installed into street series RS cars. so those who want a track car will have a real track transmission and will maintain it as a track transmission.
no idea why such a simple idea cannot be implemented as it requires not so much effort for a factory to mate it to an existing engine block.

The maintenance schedule and expense of the sequential make the center-locks look like child's play. No way they can offer the sequential with a new car warranty (and it would be dreadful to drive on the street). For track-only, someone should buy the Cup (comes with better steering too).

Cup gearbox - 50k option, not many takers so they are better off letting people who build personal projects buy one for that much.

I wonder what a cup gearbox with street ratios, street clutch and helical(?) sychros would feel like on the street. I was asking someone I can't remember about the cup clutches from the Porsche sport driving school at Barber Motorsports Park and they say the things are lasting forever with the auto blippers. And some of the drivers they get there are complete noobs to the track let alone a cup car. The stories are hilarious. No blippers and those tranny's may not last a day.

Once I'm ready for the next car to replace my GTS....I fear that I'll sadly be leaving Porsche to get a manual. I'm hoping that Demographic trends that have shaped the sales trends (will shift eventually) and manuals will be back in all the top porsche models - I give it about a decade. We need those 80-90 mill millenials to get financially set and become porsche buyers. By then mainstream BB's will have fully aged out 911's into cayenne and panos a trend that is already in motion right now.

Even if they offer a manual for the RS, it's not a true manual, it'll be the same 7spd manual offered in the base Carrera, which is still the dual clutch box. I highly doubt it will happen.

I just need to add a Subaru BRZ and E92 M3 to the stable and then I'm set for the long haul.

With BMW moving to turdbros for the M3/M4, even with a manual, that car has no appeal to me.

NA + manual is a dying breed. Get them while you can, they might not be back for a long time, or ever.

At least Audi still offers the "base" R8 with a fantastic V8 + real 6spd manual. If I was spending 115K on a new car for street driving, that's probably what I would be buying.

Ah...a manual creed...
Indeed a dying breed...
Where did the clutch pedal go...
When PDK fans say it ain't so...
Who needs to heel and toe...
When you have touch and go...
What Porsche thinks it is extinct...
We say it's better built...
We won't give up and rise stronger...
To make the ancient last longer!
