No one can deny what surely will be a game changer of a car - I look forward to your review
Maybe you will get bored with your cgt and you can pass along that pos to me :-)

I expect the p1 to have the urgency of a highly strung normally aspirated car such as a GT3. Just my speculation.
Now Nick, you're a smart guy, and even though there are EVOs putting down upwards of 300hp/l, you know the power delivery can't be described as linear, seamless, or flexible.

All I am saying is your previous statement was false, that there are cars out there at 235hp/l specific output that are not peak number queens and are quite usable in real life. You don't need a McLaren for that. In fact, I'm pretty sure my GT2 numbers are at or above that specific output value as well, but with C16 and not 93 octane. So in some respect the old school Nissan is even more well developed than the Porsche. In my opinion, of course.

The funny thing is....the old Mclaren F1 was never designed to be the fastest or the grippiest car. It was designed to be a very involving, purist concept and although it was flawed, it definitely succeeded at its goal. I fear the new Mclaren paradigm is to make a car as fast as possible which means turbos, paddleshifts, and KERS. I've got no doubt it will be an extremely fast car and well built, but the no-compromise purism has gone and that's rather unfortunate. I think the Pagani Zonda 760 LH is where I'd put my completely imaginary money, if I could.

hey guys (and imaginers) I got my email with the final performance specs of the car- but won't release them.
they already have HP quoted as 903 on the jalopnik /autoblog circuit so that is accurate
up next: curb weight, 0-300, e-range, and eventually lateral G abilities (tire compound has been tricky apparently)
0-300 is pretty mind blowing.
e-range is, well who cares- you can hit a "instant torque button" for more racing related speeds from anywhere in the torque band
weight is very exciting.
lateral G is completely insane. beyond comprehension and well beyond any street car ever tested by a huge factor.
geneva release is soon- I can't wait to go get fitted for mine at the factory. Not sure on color yet- thinking metallic red or matte white pearl or blue (already have a silver mp4, and a matte black wrapped black CGT). I don't think yellow will suit this car.

I'm impressed by the electric-only performance figures....

From the press release: "...will have the combined force of two highly-efficient powerplants... This ensures instantaneous throttle response through the rev range, more akin to a naturally aspirated engine."
Just as I had anticipated - should be awesome for the lucky 375 to own one.

well the yellow doesn't look that bad in contrast with the CF.
this part of the press release sounds really fun:
the 200 km/h barrier (124 mph) is shattered in "under seven seconds."
I don't know why they haven't released the lateral-G expectations as I was told by a higher up at the preview event what to expect. Probably liability issues or something, or maybe has to do with Ferrari not releasing any specs on their cars yet.
I really cannot imagine how awesome that is going to be, but it looks like I'll get to find out. also TopGear and some other people have incorrectly reported that the brakes are Ceramic Carbon- but in fact they are carbon fiber- like F1 brakes- hence the super shiny and zero ducting/slotting/drilling patterns. The pads will probably be artificially soft in order to grip them (F1 brakes are insanely hard to use at low speeds and low temps) but the rotors would probably weigh 30-50% of a PCCB at the same surface area/volume. Long live technology!
918: 900k, really awesome batteries 770HP. 3600 lbs 918 examples?
P1: 1.15M, 903HP, little batteries, 3080lbs 375 examples or less
Ferrari: 1.5M, XXXhp, no idea weight or batteries 500 examples

600 pounds lighter than the 918. Goodbye Porsche.

Unfortunately, you have to settle for low power at low engine speeds and substantial lag. I have a feeling the p1 will have little compromise in its power delivery. I guess we'll have to wait for cj to report...
