GT3 Gen 1 race seat-help
Need help with a race seat for a Gen 1 997 GT3. I will be using the car on the track and street and I am planning on getting a GMG roll bar for the back. The seats that came standard with the car do not have holes for the harness. Can anyone recommend a good drivers seat that will bolt in and give a good seating position without any modifications?
The factory Gen 2 seats have holes for the harness seats but pricy and I would rather keep the cost down. I realize I will loose the air bag on the driver side by doing this as well. Any recommendations or suggestions. I would really appreciate any help you can give.

Importantly, check if removing seats with airbags for non airbag seats makes your car unroadworthy in your part of the world... I ordered the standard sports seats with the intention of fitting aftermarket seats rather than paying for the Porsche buckets but found out it would make my car unroadworthy and leave my with possible insurance denial if I had an incident on the street with the aftermarket seats fitted...

Thanks for the answers. I will look at these seats. Does anyone know where to purchase Porsche OEM seats at a lower price than a normal dealer will sell them for. There was someone on the east coast (I think in Florida) and a dealer I think on the west coast that supplied these seats at a lower price than most. Any help in locating someone that will sell at a reasonable price.
Thanks

I agree with Mooty for the seats. I have the Recaro SPG large. I am 6'2" and 245 lbs with 38" waist. I used the Recaro aluminum uprights and sliders. Aluminum uprights are nice but need to check them once in a while for cracks, especially if you spend a lot of time on the track. Would probably go with steel ones considering they are holding your butt in the car.
I installed an RSS competition rear cage in my Gen 1 GT3. I have had the misfortune of a bad shunt in my 1982 911sc after 17 years of competition, so I am a strong believer in a bolt in roll over device as opposed to a no holes drilled device. RSS competition cage is very well built, tight fitting cage and as a company their service and support is excellent.
PM me if you want more information and I can send you some pics if you like.

OP, if you're not in a hurry you can keep an eye out here on RL for a set of OEM seats. They come up fairly often and you can save $1000 or maybe more on the Carbon back sport buckets.

Another source is Isringhausen Porsche in Illinois. Bought my GT2 seats full leather from there. Had an overstock so were discounting the price. Need to buy additional BK sub bars as well.

OEM seats are way overpriced. And not that comfortable. For that matter, I don' think that they look that good either.
Check out Sparco Evo. I have them in my car. Works with OEM seat tracks. Very nice, super comfortable. Look good too.

The cheapest OEM 996 GT3 seats I've seen out there. $3600 for the pair. I'm still debating what to buy myself.

Unless you have to have airbags, you'd be crazy to spend that much on 996 seats. A) They're ugly. B) For half that, you can get a brand new pair of cloth sparcos that look way better. Not to mention 996 seats look out of place in a 997.
