Perhaps this might help. Like a few few others on the board I use it:

Am going to try more than a single layer next - for larger debris.

My local clearbra installer does a windshield film for $150 installed and I replace 1x a year. I had it installed right after I had a new windshield put in. I highly rec'd doing this if you go to the track!

Auto insurance in FL replaces damaged windshields at no cost. Break, call insurance company, replace. Rinse repeat.

Yeah, but the replacement windshield has many times a slightly different curvature and thus won't fit right and leak... Made in China... Also very difficult (and expensive, insurance doesn't pay premium delta) to get an OEM replacement from Porsche, which BTW is also made in China (now)...
Best thing is a protective shield. I've had the race version (thicker) from "Proline Styling" on now for over 20 t-days and it's still looking good :-). I've heard also that the "tear-off's" NASCAR shields from a place in Georgia are pretty good.
PS: It's a DIY job after some practice. Proline will sell you a "training" version for $49!!!

Windshields only OEM I believe. All the glass installers buy them from the dealer. I always use the tearoffguys.com

I just confirmed with ClearPlex Corporate that visibility with 2 layers of film is good and that it has been track tested! I will try that on the shop car this weekend. I am going to the GMG Track Day at CA Speedway!
