Pressing out the old bushings isn't too bad of a job to do, if a press or a local shop with a press is hard to come by, can always use a small saw and cut through the outer steel band of the old bushings and 'peel' the old ones out, not a fun job but whole job should take under a hour to do...if anyone wants to do the T.S. style way, can reuse old bushings if in fair/unbroken shape and use a quality window urethane(as used to secure windshields inplace) available at many partstores, clean bushings with solvent and squeeze urethane into the gaps, common mod in the 944 world, $15 or so...

I've thought about using the 3M window weld method....

did it on my last 951, and will likely do it to my current one as well, works great, depending on what options I find for complete replacement poly bushings, might do the window weld trick as well when I bring home a '6GT2..

and if anyone thinks a 996/997 trans. mount is weak/bad, you'll laugh at the 944/951 ones

The GMG mounts are harder, 90A shore hardess, but have the "ears" on them, which I like, and prevent the mounts from weakening or coming out. However, I hate pressing out old bushings from aluminum.

Not sure which one I'll go with, maybe I'll wait for the next TS version, but definitely doing this mod.
I am waiting for the "new" TS one now as well

My short review on the TS transmission mount - installed previously a few months ago.

Pro:
- gear shift is slick and nice, less baulking at the 2-3 shift
- accelerator response is more immediate
- car feels more 'together'

Cons:
- if your using the RS flywheel - you can hear and feel the rattling by about 25-30% more at least
- Noise during driving and idling is significantly increased - and is a bother if car is a daily driver.

I took out the mount 3 days after installing - though the car drives great - the noise increase is too much for my daily driven car.

It will be a no brainer for a mostly track driven car though.

Also - when I removed the mount - 2 large chunks of the the polyurethane actually broke off from the mount - hopefully the quality control has improved.

One thing that's nice about a true replacement poly bushing(because it is a solid/consistent material vs rubber with added urethane) is NVH can be adjusted by removing/drilling out parts of the bushing essentially making it 'softer' or more compliant, while this won't make the driveline as responsive as the solid poly bushing it will still control driveline 'shift' better when drilled than the OE rubber bushings...

with true solid(metal) engine mounts best bet is to go with solid(metal) trans. mounts to avoid stress/damage to cases or mounting points

Do you want to a little energy absorbance on these bushings? Since I think rock solid mounts will transmit all the energy to rest of the car... I guess it is decreasing range of movement but allowing slight "give" to absorb energy?
