Default Off to COTA this weekend and it looks like RAIN!

Well, I knew it was a crap-shoot when I signed up for an event in January but with COTA's shenannigans I figured I better get on the track now in case the opportunity doesn't present itself again for a long time.

Following weather.com I see Saturday will be 50% rain and a high of 69 while Sunday will be 40% chance of rain and a high of 45%. Figures, there's been a drought in that area for 2 years and NOW it decides to rain. Sigh, well at least the F1 race weather was perfect.

I bought a new set of MPSS 'just in case' it rained and it looks like I'll be doing more runs on those than the new NT01's I mounted on my track wheels. Everyone says these MPSS's are really excellent all round tires and shine in the wet. I hope so. I don't want to be bouncing off of any expensive armco or barrier walls.

I'll be trying to capture some video on my S3 with Trackmaster and the Qstarz BT-Q818XT external GPS. So far I'm having iffy results in testing and my phone windshield mount slightly blocks the forward view. I've moved the phone and bracket around but can't get it 100%. Also, I'm not convinced that the TM is as developed as the HLT app I used to use on my iPhone. We'll see.

I'll keep y'all posted....

Yeah, I live in the area and am glad for rain, but sucks that it's supposed to rain this weekend. I wanted to sign up for this weekend's events, but too much going on. Looking forward to your impressions and video

Versus other tires, MPSS are magic in the rain...and also the cold...both of which you are likely to get this weekend. Sorry.

One of the reasons I am happy having signed up for the 3-day format of the MVP event is that the likelihood of at least one decently nice day is higher than the Driver's Edge event.

Still 50% chance of NO rain on Sat and 60% chance on Sunday. Kyrocks and I will be there this weekend. I decided last minute to book the event yesterday and I'm in OKC now about 1/2 way there.

Fingers crossed!

Even if I get a half day of dry for the entire weekend I'll be happy. Or more like less-disappointend.

I'm coming on yokohama ad08s due to the rain chance. Not bringing my track tires either - so hopefully I'm not too slow now :-)
