Default 997.1 RS price check

Hi Everyone,

I've been a long time lurker and this is my first post. I've been following Porsches for over 10 years now but just recently I have the means to purchase one. Having had a M3 previously, it seems to be the natural progression to go to a GT3/RS...

I found a local GT3RS that's definitely driven. Its a white 2007 RS with 53k miles. He is currently the 3rd owner of the car and has had it since 35k miles. He's got decent documents and service records but none really before him. The clutch is original as far as he's aware. The car seems to be loaded, with navi, ceramics, and a rollbar. Otherwise everything else is stock. Current owner has not tracked the car but previous owner probably did some light tracking...

Any thoughts on a fair price...not sure what to offer as it's got sucher higher miles compared to other cars on the market.

Thx,
Mike

$78-$85k seems a reasonable price to me, provided PPI is clean.

i drove the car and it feels like it will need a new clutch and brake pads soon. i've never seen any GT3 or RS model with this many miles. The closest ive seen is 48k miles, nonRS listed for 58k. Based on that I would say an RS commands about $10k-15k than a non-RS.

i am having the same question...

what do you think the worst or lowest price should be on a GT3 or GT3 RS 997.1 with high mileage?

thanks,
Steve

Negotiate those into the price. That's a reasonable life for the clutch, since the RS has the different clutch and LWFW - it can be a bit more difficult to engage, especially in stop and go traffic where fatigue sets in, so the clutch receives greater wear. You will have a chance to "upgrade" to the RS 4.0 Clutch, LWFW, PP, etc. if you do need a clutch.

The GT3's engine architecture has powered 911s for a long time, and the same engine block finished 1-2 at Le Mans in 1998. The heads are a development of those used in endurance racing in the 1980s, and the bottom end dates to the 964. Since it's apparently seen light track use, I wouldn't worry about the odo reading, especially if you plan to continue street driving it primarily.

I think an equivalent GT3 is worth less than $70, so your pricing rationale agrees with mine. White was a rare color on the RS (if you care about that sort of thing).

I believe you're talking about the White car in Nevada. Seems shady to me; call the number and see if you get through.

Yes the white one in Nevada is the high mileage one. it's probably a scam, i called and it was an answering service. and if you look closely i think one of the photos shows it with stock navi and another without...

thanks, how much is a clutch replacement...$2-3 grand? and also i see lots of people switch from pccb to steel brakes and end up actually making a couple grand. is that accurate?

Some people sell their PCCB and make a couple of grand only to lose it on the resale end. So i personally would hold on to them and use steel (for track).

interesting i had assumed many whom track their cars prefer steel brakes because of the huge expense of replacing their pccb

I'm going to throw in my .02 - I think a 53k mile RS is worth more like 75-80k if it doesn't have needs.

If it were my money, my considerations would be that I can spend $20k more and have a 'fresh' low mile car.

No paint, original everything, new pads, new clutch and PP ($2500-3500 installed) $85K all day.
Just get the car checked by a good Porsche shop to confirm the above.

This white loaded RS was probably $150K new. Virgins are still going over $100K.

Here is reality...I was in talks with this dealership...this car was sold at one time for 150K plus more in add-ons. SwitchCars sold it for the original owner...

Today it sold for with 39K miles on it:

Sorry car sold today for $71,991.

Snooze you lose...I was willing to close the deal this morning for 72.5K contingent on PPI...guess I should have followed up my early morning email with a phone call.

All good...there will be another one available again.

Different car than OP mentioned but with less miles and perhpas a story.

OP's car was white a 5K option at the time.

Wow, was the orange one sold into trade? Many nice 997.1 GT3's are going for more than that.
Was there any story, or was it just mileage?
