2010 GT3 CL recall, a NEW recall
#46
GTS was 2011-12. My car is a early 2012 delivered September 2011. It came with the new torque spec center lock nuts.
Yes GTS is a wide body car.

Porsche got back to me quickly and says the recall does not change their stance on my failure thus, yes, if it breaks on track you are responsible for the damage done*
* Porsche could extend good will, but I would not count on it (I own 4 Porsche's and they would not extend good will to my case).

"component stress associated with racetrack use and competitive driving are much higher then that experienced when driving in a lawful manner on public roads. we have determined that when a porsche 911 vehicle with central locking wheel hubs is driven in an unusually aggressive manner, the stresses which can be imparted to vehicle components can come close to that experienced in racetrack conditions. this means that not only is more stringent maintenance required, but also, as a precautionary measure, the replacement of the wheel hubs on the rear axle"
so, in other words:
- all CL cars will now have to replace rear hubs every 2 years or every 10,000 miles or every 20 trackdays
- and since we used words like "unusually aggressive manner", "lawful manner", "competitive driving" - if you happened to have a wheel leave your car driving at a DE we are not going to pay for your destroyed car
Maintenance schedule for CL cars is now going to mean you are paying for new hardware and 11 hours of install labor ever 2 years or you insurance company is not going to cover you - priceless

Mich Slicks are good for 50 heat cycles
20 Degree Slip Angles are normal
WTF drives with 2 hands on the wheel
They should just put Clarke's picture on the recall and say, "if you have been photographed on the track with him - your warranty is void"

They must be planning to roll out the recall in stages. I can't see that only 2010 gt3s would need hubs and bearings AND a new maintenance schedule whereas the RSs and all 2011 cars won't... If that were even possible, they would slap 2011 parts on all and call it a day! They will all be redone over the course of 2013 to reset and then the "maintenance schedule" will be implemented shifting the responsibility for further changes to the owner.
Still can't understand what a narrow body car is doing to the hubs that a wide body isn't? Don't get that!!
