Does your i-touch have GPS built in? The Tom Tom powered cradle mount with built in GPS is more accurate. Have fun it;s a great little app for starting out to see lap times. If you really want to study your laps you need something like Race-Keeper, V Box or Track Mate. Izzone on this forum is selling his Track Mate.

You are correct, the I-Touch does not have an internal GPS.
The HLT website lists some external GPS units that can be linked to the I-Touch (although I was wondering if the car's internal GPS could be used).

I use Emprum External GPS and it works really well with iPhone and iPod touch. Grab a Go Point Bluetooth OBD2 reader if you want engine RPM, gear position, and throttle position overlaid on your video capture from Harry's Lap Timer.

Great little app indeed. Would love to give the Go Point a try. I'm using the Tom Tom now and it works very well. Just mount it right on the windshield in the lower left just above the dash and its very convenient to access and read while strapped in. Nice spot to have the iPhone mounted too in order to be able to remotely control the GoPro via their new app. Not sure if that would work with and iTouch but I kind of think it would since it functions over wifi (the GoPro that is).

No, at least that not that I'm aware of. Sorry if my post was confusing. GoPro has a new app from which you can remotely control up to 50 cameras. I was just saying that with the iPhone mounted on the windshield with the Tom Tom puts it in a nice position to access when you are strapped in. So rather than having to start the GoPro 5 mins before you actually on track, you can start it right when you're rolling off the grid.

You can use the $30 adaptor or there will be external GPS units with Lightning connectors soon. I like the new smaller connector..

I found the external GPS to be far more accurate because it samples 5 times more, and given the speed the car is traveling on the track, it is necessary. I tried the internal GPS at Laguna Seca and sometimes it would miss the start/finish line.

Yes you can. I bought the lightening adaptor for the external GPS for my iphone 5, and it works flawlessly.
