Default How Many of You Regret Going to a 997 GT3?

I'm thinking about selling my 996 in order to buy a 997.1 rs or a .2 non rs.

I'm aware of people's views on both cars and I have driven both. I'm looking for the opinions of people that have made the switch.

It will be a pleasure car with light track duty. About 10 days/year, give or take.

What do you guys think?

My car:

Nice car. What were your impressions (relative) among the 3 versions of the GT3?

Dell will be here in 1... 2... 3 ...

(I believe he has a write up on the 997 GT3 forum discussing just your question)

Beautiful 6-3.
I'm looking for the opinions of people that have made the switch.
You're in the wrong place then.

Agreed. On both counts..

Moved to the 7 forum.

FWIW & IMHO, keep that 6 unless you can buy a clean 7.2 RS or a 4.0.

Great looking car!

I sold my 996 GT3 to get a 997 GT3 RS 4.0. That is a decision I don't regret but I did love the 6 GT3. It was a great car that I never got tired of driving. The only way I would sell your car is if I was buying a 997.2 GT3 RS.

The more contemporary they are, the more compliant and more powerful they get. I loved the feel and engine of the 7.2. I love the looks of the rs though. Like everyone says, the 6 is a bit stiff for the streets.

The performance the 6 offers at its price point can't be matched though.

Thanks. Appreciate the advice as well. Unfortunately, neither of those are realistic for me.

If you can't upgrade to at least a 7.2GT3/RS then stay where you are. IMHO of course.

Do I regret selling my 6-3? Absolutely ever day I think about it. Is it a better car than my 7-3? Only in one aspect.....on the track in stock for stock form. I have no doubt though if I got rid of that crap *** PASM system and replaced with an analog system (linear spring and some dampers from Lex) then it would shine above the 6. WIth that said, the 7-3 in stock form is not enjoyable on track for an experienced driver with that pain in the **** nanny constantly thinking she knows best over undulating tarmac. Wrong.

The only STOCK car I would get rid of mine for is a 7RS and I'm not going to do that as I think the 7.1 in Carrara White with the modern taco wing is one of the most beautiful cars ever to come out of Stuttgart. I would merely add to the stable at this point. But I'm not in a position to do anything like that right now as I'm building a garage with an attached house.

The 7-3 does however beat the 6-3 in stock form when it comes to driving to coffee on the weekend

Keep the 6. Pricing for the 7s are a bit nutty right now, and your 6 is quite nice.
