Sorry - I had a 3.8 - even with Akro and tune, it is nowhere close to the 4.0 - the 4.0 really is transformationally different - I race a 997 RSR so maybe I am a bit finicky, but the 4.0 is not the same car - suspension, engine, drivetrain - not night and day, but damn close. Coming from a 3.8 I thought that was the be-all end-all, but..... 4.0...... Wow

The loophole for owning the car overseas is no longer the trick, the taxes and input duties et al are now calculated on the purchase price of the vehicle as new with little depreciation granted, the only imports not suffering this treatment must be over 25 years old which may make 959's attractive if only they were cheap!

I did a few recent case studies and overall it was possible to save between 10% to nearly 20% on the initial cost with the balance being lost in resale almost immediately thus rendering the exercise pointless...

I too came from a 3.8 RS and also feel that the 4.0 is much more dialed in, and the engine is so much more powerful than the numbers suggest. The jump between the 4.0 and 3.8 RS was bigger than between my 997.1 non RS GT3 and the 3.8 RS.

cant believe i missed this thread. i need to get paid like you guys so i can just buy new stilo helmets, enclosed trailers, 4.0's and more
