An advantage of the AiM Solo DL and AiM SmartyCam: no need for batteries, it runs power and data acquisition from the ODB-2 port, powering the cam and the data logger. Video and data are merged in real-time while recording. The .MOV file (Quicktime) is ready for youtube as you get out of the car.

RK has same features. Cams are powered by unit and data is sent by OBD. That is good and bad. OBD data feed is a little slow compared to units like vbox which connect directly to ECU. At least that's what I heard.
However, while my vids are merged instantly right on to the SD card and can be viewed in the software... I have to convert them to wmv for youtube which takes a little while for processing.

Stock gearing in the E36 and E46 M3 (3.62) is considerably better for Mid-Ohio than the 3.41 in our 3.6, which helps getting off almost every 3rd gear corner on the track. I also think the M3 is slightly better through the chicane (club course)...because you can carry more speed into the left hand portion, atleast I feel that way in my E46.

Platinum DE Cup is fast territory.
3.6 can get in Platinum DE Cup with A6 or slicks, but on RA1/NT-01/R888/MPSC/Trofeo not a chance, not even with a Pro driver, unless the 3.6 car (996 or 997.1 GT3) has been modified (with modifications the sky is the limit)
Check the Platinum entry time at all the tracks posted in the DE Cup. Max Angelelli ran a stock 997.1 GT3 at Laguna Seca in 1:39.5 on the stock MPSC N-Spec, RA1/NT01 are faster (n/a in 19") but not fast enough to break under 1:36.
At Sebring, Platinum DE Cup starts at 2:19.999, and the only car that has touched Platinum DE Cup times on RA1/NT01 tires is the old Trakcar 2.0, a 2010 GT3 RS 3.8 with modified Aero, monoballs, lightened, on 18" BBS wheels, and in the best conditions for faster lap times the entire year at Sebring, a cold morning in early January, the time was a 2:18.999. A 3.6 with less aero, way less power, narrower footprint, and geared long doesn't have it.
Most DE Cup drovers in GT3s run in the Coffee Cup, fewer ones in the Gold DE Cup, and just a handful of cheaters (slicks, trick aero, re-geared, turbos, strippers, off-roading, race fuel) get solid Platinum DE Cup times.

I was running with another quick .2GT3 on Hoosiers R6's, and we were nose to tail for most of the session, and he turned the same times.
Depending on how fast you are through the club chicane, it can be 1.5-2.5s slower. I'd agree that unless you have a re-gear, on a well sorted 3.6L, most Platinum Cup times are out of reach.
Sub 1.36 in a .2RS is definitely do-able on the club course (still not easy), it's almost laughable at how perfectly geared the 3.8RS is for Mid-O.

So, was that you in the gray Turbo with the big wing and huge splitter that kept appearing in my mirrors out of nowhere
Back on topic... I wish I could, I wish I could, I wish I could.
PS Paver, don't feel too bad about that Cayman catching you. He got a better exit out of 7, braked later in to 10a, and is a good driver

^I got a kick out of it because he was very close to me at turnin for 7. I smugly thought "no pointby, I'll put some distance between us on the straight". So, I didn't even check my mirror until I happened to notice he was RIGHT on my tail when I hit the brakes for 10A. I still shortshift a little bit on the back straight and don't quite hold it down flat at the bend. Still not used to feeling the car load one side at 135.

Agreed though. I took a ride as a passenger a couple times the last time I was at RA. It's amazing when you have the time to look, just how much automotive paint is smeared on those barriers. Intimidating.
