The best part was as we were driving on the first lap.....

Me: What's your driving experience
You: Oh I'm Chin instructor Sebring etc., PCA instructor advanced driver yada yada

And then straight off 4 wheeling shortcut through the grass at turn 3. Funniest on track moment ever!!!

I was supposed to have Clarke this weekend for a check ride. Was looking forward to making him stay in green all weekend.

So, was that you in the gray Turbo with the big wing and huge splitter that kept appearing in my mirrors out of nowhere

Back on topic... I wish I could, I wish I could, I wish I could.

PS Paver, don't feel too bad about that Cayman catching you. He got a better exit out of 7, braked later in to 10a, and is a good driver

One can't help wonder how many non-pro driven DE Fiats (or other cars, for that matter) are running sub 2:03's at VIR? Platinum-style.

Yes, it does, I used the 2012 ALMS GTC qualifying record, and double checked with the NASA Time Trials TTS and TTU records (both of them at 1:29).

Mid-Ohio DE Cup World Series Championship Classes:

Platinum Cup: Lap times under 1:33
Gold Cup: 1:33-1:35.999
Cup of Coffee: 1:36-1:38.999
Moving Chicane Cup: 1:39 or slower

I've never been to Road Atlanta, very likely signing up this week with Chin for late November, bringing my Moving Chicane to study the track, in preparation for the 2013 NASA season in TTU, to help fill out the class.

Actually, all the times posted for all the racetracks in this thread are based on the following:

- Using the stock 997 GT3 Cup 3.8 driven by Pro and Pro-AM drivers.
- For every 60 secs on a qualifying lap, add 10% to the lap to set the baseline on the fastest DE Cup class (Platinum class)
- Build the 3 slower classes, using 2 seconds for a 60 secs lap, 3 secs for a 90 secs lap, 4 secs for a 120 secs lap, and so on.

For instance, if an ALMS 997 GT3 Cup 3.8 runs a racetrack is 3:00, the DE Cup Platinum class would start at 3:18, Gold would start at 3:24, and so on.

No Fiat lap times used, as there are few Fiat driven at Pro and Pro-Am level, and all of them have vastly different levels of preparation. By the way, my Fiat is a lot slower as a track day car than most Aero Beetles, as tested and confirmed by multiple media outlets. The only amazing Fiat (per the media experts) is the 458 Italia, and I don't have one of those.

Typically, you trade places between the Gold DE Cup and the Coffee Cup on tracks you know well, with solid Coffee Cup lap times on non-local tracks.

No can do. Fiat will be in the shop the last 2 months of the year in preparation for the NASA TT 2013 season, starting with a test 'n tune at Winterfest.

By the way, good news for people in the South of this happy State. I can't wait.

LOL, there is in Palm Beach and Wellington as well

So how do you adjust for R6 VS RA1?
One second per 60 seconds of laptime?

Toyo RA1/NT01 base tire

Street tire modifier -1.5 sec per per 60 sec lap
Hoosier R6 modifier +1 sec. "
Hoosier A6 modifier +2 sec. "
Full slick modifier "Rads crutch". +3 sec. Per 60 sec lap

Plus 1 on what 85 said. I say a second at best on a big track when comparing R6 to deeply shaved RA1. Randy was all over Clark and Grady this weekend on his lowly Toyo's.

Glad to see everyone doing well. I have been working, working and not been on RL for a while. I would like to try and make this event with better tires.
How much do we penalize a 4.0 for?

Never mind unshaved tires RA1's that are impossible to drive and are good for nothing except make me look like a hero dragging me to a fastest 1.341 following a mighty 4.0...

I think on Toyo's under 1:35 is platinum cup, under 1:33 on Hoosiers

I would think that a 4.0 has about the same advantage as Hoosiers, roughly 1 second per 60 seconds of track?

Have you ever drag raced a 4.0 down a back straight?
