Default Anyone ever see a 996 GT3RS ?

I never even knew such a beast existed. I was at Wright Motorsports today, and they had all of their ranking cars in one room being prepped/worked on! Geez, I almost, ..., well, you know.

Anyway, it seems the 996 RS was made a few years in early-mid 2000s. What a cool car. H pattern shifter and ABS for mere mortals. This one had a 3.8 engine with cool goodies. Way cool.

Yes, actually was referring to the RSR--sorry. Thanks for the info. Actually, I saw the Top Gear episode with the GT3RS, just forgot. Like most of us, I have seen all of the TopGear episodes. While the 996 wasn't my favorite Porsche, the 996 Cups are really growing on me.

Modeled on the 911 GT3 R, the GT3 RS was limited to 50 cars produced in the racing division in Weissach.

JC: "I think the Ferrari is a scaled down version of God, and the Porsche 911 is the jumped up VW Beetle..."

The last of the real analog GT3 ever made. My long time favorite, everything amazing on the 996GT3 moved to the next level. No TC, No PDEM, No PSM, No Navi, No Bose, No Wart, Carbon hood, Plexi rear window.

For the endurance versions ther just changed the name as the car was evolving over the years :

1999 - GT3-R (Only the Champion and Manthey cars for Le Mans)
2000 - GT3-R
2001-03 - GT3-RS
2004-06 - GT3-RSR

great vid - cant believe I left it so long since the last watch

I heard the Race car - R as per SWL above - needed to be called the RSR after the intro of the RS to differentiate the new (road) car from the spec racing ones which were the first RS.

+1 The real 996 RS wasn't even sold in the states. Everything else since has been major watered down.
