The street steel center muffler and the Cup center muffler appear to be not much different in weight.

The steel street center has be known to crack as well as the titanium center.
The Cup center has also been known to crack.

So it is hard to say IMHO ..... basically it depends on the enviroment and user.

My stock steel center has not cracked to date, and i will be trying the cup center for now and next year.

Lindsay, I can check the weight for you, they are close, but the Cup is not prone to crack like the street piece, is also a little louder. Little.

So far the most crack resistant, best sound, and price combo, is the M&M system.
Same I have, and now Peter, and a few other gentleman here on the Forum.

I've seen titanium pieces (OEM) cracking, as fast as one weekend, mounted in a 2007 CUP. I've seen street OEM steel last a while, and also have seen them cracking in 6 months or so. Everything depends.

On my list bang for the buck

- Side muffler delete
- M&M system (side muffler delete)

Actually I am thinking about coming down there for a month this winter. So, I may take you up on that. What I'm really trying to figure out is how much net weight loss will I have over running the sides with a sharky...seems like going to side delete + center will only be 20 lbs or less lighter than I am now.

You can pass at laguna with this bypass if you attach some kind of sound deflector to the tips, as confirmed by my old 996. Otherwise, you will not pass sound.

Steven, it's not likely that you will pass sound at Laguna, not even with a Stock GT3.
With the M&M muffler and side delete, you should be really close to stock levels, with the OEM muffler and side muffler delete, the sound is not much louder at higher RPMs.
I've seen some people with stock cars, running with valves closed full time.
I wouldn't do that, as the restrictions and back pressure will generate even greater amounts of heats, and this is not good to your heads, and valves.

Serge's recommendation is a great alternative for sound restriction.

This looks/sounds like a great mod.
I currently have the Sharky muffler bypass (sounds incredible) but still have my OEM muffler. What's really appealing is the weight savings & heat removal near the rear tires.

Do you have any videos of the difference in sound vs stock?

It says file not found, teaser....

I heard yours with the m and m the other day at orbit. Sounds great.

I am just not sure if I am ready to give up the sharky center bypass...

My Carrera GTS has side muffler delete from M&M and although it is somewhat different than the GT3 cars version I can say that M&M makes a quality product.
