GT3 VS GT3
Which is the better overall buy and why? the 997.1 vs 997.2? (weekend toy/ track monster only not a daily driver) what are the pros and cons of both? And which do you prefer. Please help.
Oh and I almost forgot, if any of you guys know about the 3.9 liter upgrade by sharkwerks, how reliable is it long term? Thanks

If you have the money, get the .2. I think it's a no-brainer.

The car wont only be on the track. It will be on the street too. It will be my weekend car. What are the differences between the .1 and .2 besides the exterior refinements and the 3.6 vs 3.8 mezger?

Depends on what your budget is and what you want in the car. I gave myself a self imposed budget of 80-85 and I picked up a ultra low mile cream puff at Christmas for about 82. I liked the .1RS and .2 but I wasn't willing to spend the extra 10-20K.
I have zero regrets. If I decided to up my budget to the .2 I would have also planned for the 5 lug conversion as I have ZERO desire to own a CL car.
Make no mistake that each and every iteration is better than the next so whatever your budget is, buy that model. 70-80K? .1 is your winner...... 90-100K? .1RS or .2

the .1 has a Sunroof, awesome 5 lug wheels and little or No remaining warranty.
the .2 has No sunroof, Crappy center lock wheels and a nice 3.8L engine with Warranty.
The math says a .1 is $20k less then a .2.
For weekending id be happy with a clean .1, i see no real reason to spend 20k more unless it was on track parts.

I actually like the sunroof as it is more of a weekend cars and coffee ride for me that will go to the track only 3-5 times a year. Besides, my 4 year old REALLY likes the sunroof. If you buy one through a dealer you can get it CPO'd for 2 years. That was huge for me as I hope I don't need to use any of the CPO but I am at peace knowing I have 2 years of coverage.
Besides, the 2nd gen taco wing is oh so nice............
Tell me this isn't one sexy *** car!

It really does depend on your budget and comfort level tracking a pricey car. I just got a 2007 gt3. Will be modding as my budget allows but keep spending the $ for on track coaching and track insurance. If money is no object get a 4.0 RS

My budget is 85k and that's pushing it. The car will visit the track here and there. Mostly Raceway Park and Limerock. Navigation and the sunroof will just be bonuses for me. Do they sell .1s without the sunroof? And after a while I would like to take it to sharkwerks and do the 3.9 liter upgrade depending on the reliability and longevity of the upgrade.

That's what I'm getting...
Similar budget .1RS & .2GT3 I want the more classic look and fat *** on the .1RS. I also suspect it'll hold it's value better... To each there own, I say hold value when the longest I've owned a P-Car is 2.5 yrs...
If 85k is max and you plan to track I'd say .1 GT3. really that is the only way you'll hit your budget and have $$ to spend on the track.
