Default Black 4.0 out there for sale

There is a Black 4.0 for sale. I'm considering it, but it's kind of a loaded pig, and it has the sofa seats!! Why would anyone order that car with those seats!!! What do you guys think? 300+ miles...MSRP + 7kish premium.

Not worth MSRP, much more a premium above it. Remember base sticker was $50K over a RS 3.8. There was already too much markup to begin with.

If u love these GT3's like we almost all here do then the 50k difference in the price from a 3.8 RS is worth it. I know I had a gen 1 997GT3, a gen 2 997 RS and now a 4.0. Have absolutely no regrets and I work hard for my money. For those of us who have driven a 4.0 it is phenomenal and is worth the extra $. Not that the 3.8 is not good enough and happens to be a pretty good value today. To after market upgrade from 3.8 to 4.0 is almost 40k for the build itself! And you don't get the a car that arguably will be more sought after like the production 4.0. If u love these cars and can afford it go for it and change the seats. You won't regret it.

Thanks guys for the input. I decided to let the car fly. I guess if I was going to bubble wrap it, it's not a bad deal, but if I get a 4.0, I'm definitely going to drive it, so by the time I put bucket seats in it, I would have 230k in it will all the crazy options on the car. Hopefully a PTS will appear in the fall. Maybe I'll regret it, but that's was the conclusion reached.

great if you plan to daily drive it and never see a track.
resale might suck with luxo-gismos however.

Here is a copy of the build. Did they really need to order it with leather surround $495.00 floormats! And does a 4.0 really need $695.00 in a special dimming interior? Car is somewhere on it's way to Houston now....

The only value for resale would be PCCB, the rest helps sell the car to the right buyer, but not much value

I think this car, even with the *** seats, is still a lot better looking than those white one's out there with the bordello red seat inserts, red stick shift (arghhhh) and red himmel (sorry, ceiling). That is so garish to me that I turned one down locally earlier this year at MSRP (very few options...) and oh yeah, it also had those silly white wheels... This one actually had a decent interior, nice wheels and with the exception of the nearly $4k carbon stuff and maybe the Nav I think it looked quite good. If this was offered at $212 (MSRP) with no crazy mark-up, I would have probably been interested. But then again, I really don't want a black car. White with black interior and black wheels is the way to go :-)

I personally love my little Texas whorehouse interior and the white wheels!! The more outrageous the better on the RS's. I think in years to come this "unique" interior and wheel combo will be the most desirable. I just wish it was even less common. But to each his own right? I remember in 1979 that I couldn't stand the stupid sepia brown color on my 1973 911s coupe so I painted it black. Stupid mistake.
