Izzone, you should get Lollipop in the driver's seat, that would be cool. A full year of autocrossing, then PCA DE and NASA HPDE. Next week there is supersize autoX at Fort Myers, there is also the last NASA 2012 Time Trials at Sebring.
A 2006 Cayman S with a salvage title makes for a nice street legal car, super stiff body, safe, reliable as long as you don't run super sticky tires and/or high banking tracks and/or Platinum DE Cup pace. Just add:
- Sparco race seats $3k
- bbi Rollbar
- harnesses
- hans
- GT3 Cup brake cooling ducts
- PFC pads
- Endless RF650 brake fluid
- The super progressive, predictable, long lasting, Michelin Pilot Super Sports.
You can also lease a 2012 base Cayman for pennies (they are not moving at all). It is a nice daily driver, cheap to operate, and it serves well as a backup car when Geisha is sick. My Coxster is now running Coffee DE Cup pace, and very likely in the next few months it will be running Gold DE Cup pace (it is fun to chase slow drovers in Aero Beetles).

Not 997 material or lap times/speed but since this seems to be the only D.Murry (VIR) thread I thought I would post my video from the event and represent for the 996 model. Kicking myself on entrance speed into the esses but a respectable 2.08. Wish I had more time to socialize with everyone. Putting 358 track miles in a day and half keeps you busy. Great event...will remain a permanent part of my calendar.

Vimeo seems to make it hard to link directly to the forum....unlike the YouTube vids from Izzone and others.

Thanks again Mark for a great, great event. Drove 15 hours to get there, and it was totally worth it. Definitely spreading the word around these parts.
Now one day done at Road America, and it's another epic ride. First time out was a bit intimidating, but it's better now
T12 is a lot like Mosport T4, but still not comfy.
Have a few videos to post, but it may have to wait til I'm back home. Might be old news by then though.

So, at VIR the 3.8RS should be 6 secs faster than the 996 GT3, and the fastest 3.8RS lapped in 2:05.000, so you should lap in 2:11.000 to run at the same pace, but you did amazingly better at 2:08. You win the DE Cup in the pro-rated results.

After attending the David Murry Track Days for the first time I realized this it more like a true test day with pro training. The open track format was awesoome and they allowed full passing everywhere. I found the digital track walk extremely helpful and having David on staff for private coaching allows you to proceed to the next level rapidly. Will be looking to schedule more David Murry Track days in the future.

2:08 with a 996 GT3 is super amazing, for one simple reason: when Porsche took the 996 GT3 around the Nurburgring with Walter Rohl, the best they could do was a 7:54 lap. Later on (years went by) the 997.2 GT3 RS 3.8 did it in 7:32, 22 secs faster.
