Default DIY: TPMS Disable with Durametric 6 Pro

Hello all,

Not sure if this is covered elsewhere, as the only instructions I found were from Mooty for disabling with PWIS. I called Durametric and they weren't sure if it would work either, so I tried essentially the same thing with Durametric 6 Pro and it worked! I've edited for Durametric 6.0 Pro

Here are Mooty's instructions (very good btw...)

1: First you must actually disconnect the TPMS control unit so that the CAN Controller does not continue to recognize it. The control unit is located in the front trunk next to brake fluid reservoir. Remove and unplug the dome light on the cowling plastic. Remove all of the screws that hold this entire plastic panel in. There are a good number on top by the seal and one on each side by the bottom.

2: Now unplug the control unit it is part number 997 618 103 06, Do not remove it. This way you can always just plug it back it and use it again.

3. Reassemble the front trunk again.

4. Hook up the D6Pro to the car via the OBD2 port and go to "instrument cluster" then "coding" . Find TPMS and any other TPMS related item and select not installed. Go to commands and reset the instrument cluster.

5. Select "Gateway" and then "Coding"

6. Select "Tire Pressure Monitoring System" and change to " Not Installed".

I started with the Instrument cluster TPMS at not installed and the gateway installed. After I unplugged the TPMS sensor I went in and recoded the instrument cluster to not installed and reset and coded the gateway to not installed as well...

If anyone has any edits to add, let me know.

Interesting. What year is your car? I wonder if this coding setting is available for all model years or just the years when TPMS was optional equipment.

Thanks for the details - sounds very similar to the PASM disable process for those putting in aftermarket cheater adjustable shocks.

First you disconnect the module - then disable the features and change the gateway coding.

Excellent, glad this works on more than just .1's. I'm sure the Durametric guys will be interested as well...

Think the opposite would work to turn TPMS on for those who didn't get it as an option?

Do you think the airbag module can be disabled by the same way on a 997.1 RS ? (with durametric)
I tried, but I got a message saying "airbag failure", but the car can be started.
But i don't remember where I set "disabled", only one "place" for sure so maybe an other disabling is missing
Compared to the PASM disabling, I asked durametric, but they said that "hand hover" is not supported

No idea, but if you search I had found a DIY on using durametric and one of the examples was disabling airbags for racing seats...

You might need to disable it in the gateway as well.

I came across this post via google search... followed the direction and was able to disable the TPMS on my 987.1. I took some pictures and wrote up a DIY to help others... The DIY is posted here:

Thanks again!

Awesome!!!

Thanks a lot for putting this together.

My Boxster Hatchback does not recognize the TPMS sensors anymore, they ran out of battery long time ago. I bought new sensor for my track wheels, and found them useless for track days, so I was thinking on installing the sensors on my street wheels (annoying, as it requires 4 x dismount/mount/tire shop).

I might just use my Durametric thingy and turn it off.
