I forget the weight of my Champion RG5's. I think they are near 21 to 22lbs for the front and 23 - 24 lbs for the back.

Can anyone help provide some clarity? Thanks!

The person on camera doesn't know what he's talking about, but it's a look at an interesting wheel.

Is anyone racing with CF wheels yet? Super interested to hear how it's going. Does F1 use CF wheels?

Good way to test strength.

F1 wheels aren't carbon fiber. They are AZ70 or AZ80 Magnesium alloys.

OUCH!
God knows I've spent money on this passion but that's not a reasonable bang for the buck.

For carbon wheels, if they're durable, $15K is not too far out of the ballpark for high end wheels. Some makers of mag alloy wheels are up there in price.

I'm afraid some previous composite wheel makers like Dymag left a reputation for catastrophic failures of their carbon wheels, especially on Ducati bikes, but also some road and track cars. There are those who've done many miles, including track time, without a Dymag or other composite wheel failure, and they advocate the advantages of the wheels, but they know they're the exception. It's just a matter of time before a company comes along with a manufacturing process and a design that overcomes the practical weaknesses of composites in structural applications.

Given a set of Movit brake rotors is over $25K, a set of wheels at $15K isn't out of the question. The issue being whether they make wheels to fit cars like the 997.2 GT3 RS 3.8 or the 991 GT3 in centerlock hub designs.

Anyway, the proof of the pudding is pretty easy. You take a stock car and accelerate from 0 to 100 mph to 0, capturing all the various distances and times. Repeat the process to compare normal forged alloy lightweight wheels to the factory stock wheels to the composite wheels. If the composites are quicker to accelerate and brake than the lightweight wheels, and those are quicker than the factory wheels, then it's just a matter of deciding how fast you want to go and what it's worth in the budget of the whole game.

My sense of self-preservation exceeds my willingness to throw money at the car. I've got the Movit rotors and they've held up to the test of time and track torture. If someone can put these wheels under say an RS 4.0 and run it around the track for a season, then x-ray to show zero fatigue, I could see myself being silly enough to buy a set.

After all, the 991 cars will require 20's to clear the calipers of the new 410mm PCCB front rotors. 20 inch wheels on a track car? What were they thinking?

did these guys go out of business? Their forum tag says 'former sponsor'. Perhaps yet another well-intentioned company left by the wayside of carbon wheels

They "tweeted" (spit) as recently as Monday:

Looks like they screwed the pooch on RL vendor/sponsor status.
