GT3RS West Palm Beach to Seattle Road Trip
Hi Guys,
Picked up my new 07 997 GT3RS from Erik and Eddie yesterday. Drove 12 hours to Kennesaw, Georgia (about 30 minutes past Atlanta).
Car is running great, is a bit noisy in the cabin (no side mufflers) and honestly they may be going back on as I don't know if the misses could stand it, and I plan on using the car for small costco runs and such (very small I know...)
Only issue is the TPC won't learn the new rear tires, so we have a constant TPC alarm.
More updates tonight!
Jamie

Jamie,
My Cayman is not learning the TPMS any longer since December 2011. Everything checks fine in the ECU readout, and I was told that I need to replace my TPMS sensors (I have a spare set I bought last year). They are supposed to last 4 years. My Cayman is a 2007 model, so there might be a chance your TPMS sensors need replacement (the internal sensor battery dies after a few years). They are cheap at TireRack.

TPMS delete
the system in the .1RS is horrid IMHO
Congrats and get some earplugs for the trip
Once you are back in town and not driving the thing ALL DAY LONG, you will enjoy the engine music
Nice to have another RS in Seattle

Good luck on the trip Jamie. Another way you can can go is put the side mufflers back on and then replace the center muffler with a Sharky exhaust. Almost identical sound that you have now when Sport button is engaged, but nice and quite/stock sound below 4K rpm in "non sport" mode. Little bit heavier then current setup, but much nicer when driving around town. After a weekend on the track I always enjoyed driving home in the "non sport" setting

Jamie,
Enjoy the memorable drive. Also did that drive when picking up my 996 GT3 from FL. Exhaust seems loud now b/c of such long stretch of driving. You may feel better once home and driving shorter distances however, will still have to sell idea to the Miss's.
As stated by PJS, nice to have another RS in Seattle. Oh, on that point make sure to get a few extra front lips as you will need them.

my 33000 mile RS is also now not learning the stock wheels which i just put back on..... could be batteries.
No biggie..... will fix it later. Some people disconnect it. I personally like it for street.
If you do not like the drone of side muffler delete, than you will want to install the stock side mufflers and a sharkwerks center muffler bi-pass. You will love the sound and the sport switch lets you hear it when you want to hear it.
I hope to see you on the west coast when i return someday
You got one hell of a proper equipped RS!

So I talked to Eric and he's giving me a deal on the sharky center section and I'll put the stock sides back in, I think going from an M5 to an RS I won't notice the extra 50 lbs in the back.
Quick update on the trip so far: we made it through Georgia, Tennessee, Illinois, Missouri, had dinner in Columbia, MO and headed toward KC then north to Soiux Falls for tonight.
The car is doing great, I am noticing something that seems a little off with the shifter. Occasionally with the clutch in the car doesn't want to come out of gear. If I rev match or hit the throttle a bit no problem. The car has a new 4.0 clutch setup and throw out bearing, and RSR shift cables. Just want to check with you all, I did a quick search on the net and here and didn't come up with much...
Also since I'll be tracking the car I'll delete the TPMS and monitor tire pressures the old fashioned way!
Thanks for all the well wishes, so far so good!!

^ Good for you Jamie on scoring Erik's SW bypass! You'll be happy you did this deal. I loved it on my 7.2 GT3. And as everyone has already told you, it does not get obnoxious for city driving if you keep it below ~3500rpms.
If you're heading to Pacific Raceways, be careful of the sound limit there as I was told to back off on the main straight with my 7.2 GT3 and the SW bypass. Same for me at the Vancouver Mission Raceway track. Head to the Ridge track and be as loud as you want.
Also, there is Mikymu's vacuum cap solution.
