Default Differential Fluid

I called the P car dealer in San Antonio to inquire about differential fluid for my 997.2 GT3 RS. They said that it was a Porsche supplied product that was synthetic 75W-90 and it did not come in small quantities (5 gallons only).

I called Paragon Products here in Corpus Christi and he carries Redline synthetic 75w-90 and 75w-90 NF.

What are you guys using? Where do you buy it?

Mobil 1 PTX fluid is the factory fill and only available from Porsche in 20lt drums... Apparently it is unique... Not sure if other fluids could be used in its place...

Stick with factory fill unless you want to chance the loss of warranty and the performance of the LSD.

My dealer will allow me to bring in a fluid container and sell it to me by the liter. The drum they can order for you is a 20L drum so they just charge 1/20 per liter.

I use Mobil Delvac 75W-90 though and have been for years in both my 3's.

+1 on Delvac

I think Matt from Guard put it best when he said there are many good fluids on the market, the best one is the one that's changed the most often.

And that is key. I change mine at a minimum 2x a year.

I think a gallon is not quite enough for 2 fills.. (each fill is around 3.3L, I think.. while a gallon = 3.89L)

I just did mine this past weekend and there's just a little bit left on the gallon...

I buy mine by the case locally. 4 in a case and I'm out the door for $140 ($35/gallon)

I get it from Petroliance. Their corporate offices are in Apex (here in the Triangle) so it's very convenient for us. Call them at 877-738-7699 and see if they have a distribution center for customer pickup there in CLT.

Agreed. I only have a little of each gallon left over after a fluid change
