Default Average life of PCCB

Will be purchasing a 2010 GT3 soon and was wondering what the average life are for PCCB rotors (non track use). I am aware of the replacement costs but like the benefits of this option.

Non-track use they will potentially last the life of the car.

Track use, no clue. Operator and track dependent. I am in the process of finding out.

Depends upon how you drive.

My 03 Turbo is on its original (cast iron) brakes, and the car has just over 95K miles on its odometer, the last 85K miles I added.

No tracking but I do once in a while drive the car spiritedly.

When I asked about PCCBs longevity a while back the tech looked at me kind of funny and said the PCCBs would last the life of the car.

At least the rotors. Pads maybe just half the life of the car...

If you can afford them, for the STREET I would definitely get them. They will last essentially forever, i.e. you will probably never replace rotors. The benefit is best realized on the street where the unsprung weight will provide a much better ride over road imperfections. And, they look great--with no brake dust and no rusting. The only downside is that they can squeal occasionally. I have them on two vehicles. BTW, I took them off my track car--too expensive to replace since one will likely wear them out with serious track use.

Edgy over on the 997 Forum has something like 60+k miles on PCCB only street driving and they still look like new.

Again only street driving and the last a super long time....take them to the track...no way

Don't know but the PCCB's on the 997 TT I just bought with 28,000 miles on it are on the limit....

Previous owner must have loved loved loved to brake

I recently got a set pf PCCB rotors from someone associated with a shop that likes to post a lot of photos on this forum. The rotors turned out to be at the end of their life. Worse still, I can't get a call back from the shop owner so I can return them... May have to get my CC company and Paypal involved.

The gen1 PCCB were not that good. Basically only really last one set of pads. Second set was down to 50% after 2 days at SPA. Not sure how improved gen2 PCCB are on a 2010.

sucks to hear. hope it gets worked out to your satisfaction.

carbon-ceramic rotor life is determined by weight right? did they show you the actual weights? or just tell you they still had alot of life in them?

and i think i know what shop you are referring to. they seemed like they are stand up. shop pics were clean, and full of cars. i spoke to a few of them at their booth at bimmerfest east, they were friendly.

Call them out ilko. Truth is defense. These guys rely on forum participant's silence to defend their dishonesty.

My .1 pccb have 25k spirited street miles on them and they still look new, but yes they do not have any longevity on the track.
