Question Need Some Track Wheels For My "Wanna Be"!

Sold off my 19" OZ Center Locks....want to get a set of 18" Center Locks for my 2012 GTS w/center locks.

What I need to find out is if 2010-11 GT3RS front offset will work on my GTS. GTS is wide body and I know the rear 12" wide wheel of RS will fit.

GTS comes stock with 8.5x19 et56 fronts. My OZ was 8.5x19 et53 fitment was totally fine.

GT3RS comes stock with 9x19 et47.

OZ has the new HLT cast Challenge wheel in 9x18et47 and a set of these for my car is very attractivly priced....about $1500 less than forged race wheels in custom offsets....but I'm not sure the offset of the OZ wheel will fit.

You are looking at this wheel pushing 15mm further out then your OZs. Measure it and see. If you run over -2 camber in front you will have more room inside the top fender lips.

Just little confused how they actually measure offset going from a 8.5" with a et53 offset to a 9" wide with a et47 offset. Is it just pushed out 6 more mm or is some of the width of the 9's no the inside so that the wheel doesn't stick out too much further?

Mike,

The differences in a 9.0 47 vs the 8.5 53 will be as follows. The outside lip will move outboard 12-14mm (depending on who is doing the measuring ), the inside lip will be within 1-2mm from wheel to wheel.

Thanks Jeff...I knew I wasn't understanding this correctly as I was just thinking the outer lip would be pushed out just not knowing how far. I'll go measure as my car sits now.

Anyway, the 9"x19" OZ wheel is 12.7mm wider than your stock Carrera wheel.

Because of the offset difference (56mm offset on 8.5" vs. 47mm on the 9" wheel), the 9" ET47 will stick out 15mm more than your current stock wheels.

What you need to do is to measure your current wheel/tires on the car and check if it can handle a wheel that sticks out 15mm more.

With the 255/35R18 on these 18x9ET47 wheels, the tire will stick out 18mm more than what you currently have on your stock wheels/tires.

Make some 20mm cardboard strips and glue them with crazy glue to the edge of the tire, to check clearance, fitment, rubbing.

The OZ wheels are affordable, super light and pretty, like other Italian products, and reliable too, like a Fiat.

Ok...I ran a long ruler front the ground up to the fender lip and then measured from the flat part of the wheel rim to the edge of the ruler. I have 15mm or so...really hard to tell with the inner fender lip but definitely 15mm from rim outward to top of fender wheel well. Eddie at Orbit says 9" wide RS offset will work and that is what he orders for all GT3 no RS cars for the fronts.

I also have a chunk of spacer in my lower control arm....so I'm wondering if I can bring the shock towers inward more and take out spacers to still keep that same amount of camber? Hard to tell with the nuts at the top of the tower and the body.

You may need offset top camber plates to do but no biggie. The turbo cars have to do it that way over LCA spacers due to the front axles.

rebuilt???? no just the stock "crappy" sports pasm..LOL...that's what my friend Rad calls it on my "wanna be aero beetle" LOL.

I had Orbit line up the front subframe and do a proper string alingment on it and install some adjustable sway bars.

i just think it would make sense to put LCAs and GT3 top mounts first - it would open up options for wider rims for you, there is little reason imho to replace current wheels to smaller 18" diameter in same width sizes - what tires will you put on them? selection is not very good there now. go with 10"/12" 18" rims, that will make a huge difference. our cars are all about grip and much less about motor. what stock gt3 car gains on a straight it all looses in the corner compared to my car. and it is fun.

Mike, let me send you a front wheel to check with. If it does not fit we can just get it back. Unfortunately we have not measured a GTS yet so I am not certain.
