Default OT: what %-age of P-car enthusiasts regularly frequent RL & similar online forums?

just wondering...

RListers are a sad, hardcore bunch, spending so much time here in the company of like minded addicts, getting our daily "fix"

some of us have post counts into the thousands, and there's no question about how intense and vibrant this community is.

but i'm wondering, if RL (and similar online forums) represent a large chunk of the general enthusiast segment, or just a small-- if passionate-- minority?

at trackdays and sunday drives, there are many regulars who aren't regulars on these forums. just wondering what people think? are we a relatively tiny minority? my gut says we are...

Thank you for not including "RS." I really want one, but tricking out my .2 non-RS, and waiting to see what the 991RS turns out to be.

As far as %age of Porsche owner that are Rennlisters--my guess is very low. Even some guys at the DEs and track days don't know about it, and that is already a small proportion of Porsche owners. Still MANY owners out there that don't even know they own a 964, 993, 996 or 997--they correct me when I compliment their car, telling me it is a 911.

I'd never be able to own a car like this, let alone any car without being a member of the car's form. I'm not rich enough to pay for repairs and need the assistance of the members to keep my car in tip top shape.

I've saved so much money over the years by utilizing the knowledge of other members to get my issues solved.

A Million thanks to all contributing forum members!

Regardless of which forum it is, I work under the assumption that for every person who posts there are on average 10 lurkers who just read and observe the conversation. So while that makes our numbers larger than active members would make it appear it is still a very very small minority.

I'm rebuilding a few hundred GT3 LSDs a year. How many GT3s have sold in America? Worldwide?

Or to take it even further, I sell maybe 20 short ratio ring and pinions a year to people who are NOT putting them into a Cup Car for racing. That's it. 20. I think maybe there are 10 guys on RL who run one of our short ratio ring and pinions in their car.

And if you're on Rennlist, you'll end up owning a GT3.
