The 997, 987 are the last real Porsche sports cars imo. VW/Audi have everything to gain, Porsche can only lose.

So the real question is this going to be a VW company or a company owned by VW. If the later, then there is hope that Porsche has a chance to still be Porsche.

I think this may be the end of an era. But agree with Dell, if CE makes all the decisions, It's over.

Volkwagen will want to see Porsche associated with motorsports and continue to market the brand as such.
They would be fools to try and market it as otherwise.
Volkswagen know that their Audi is luxury higher end, Volkswagen is everyday people, Lambo is for high end exotic market and Porsche is for those who appreciate the background of the brand which is in part thanks to motorsports and design.

Porsche will continue to offer Cup cars as the spec series racer and privateer race car as it is a good market, but i think they might just offer the 961 platform as the RSR replacement for the big leagues. With success they could easily produce it in street trim to the masses as a special high end vehicle over the 991 line to keep their loyal customer from looking at Ferrari and Mclaren etc...

It'll be a good thing...Porsche will remain pretty much the same, this is not your ordinary "takeover"...think about how Fiat and Ferrari interact.

Porsche has been picked to lead the development of the sports car range.
I would imagine the Pany, the Truck, etc will be more clones of VW/Audis.

Just look at Bugatti- that's a VW owned company, as is Lamborghini.

Just worry my check engine light will be on all the time now...

From what I am seeing in the market, Porsche will continue to do what it is doing.

In Motorsports, Porsche will be throttled back while Audi will surge. Audi spent 70 million alone in hospitality this year for Le-Mans. They had major presence at the Nurburgring 24 while Manthey did not run their RSR and the Porsche camps had dwindled.
