"Backmarker"? 1:58 @ Thunderhill CCW w/Cyclone; 2:06 @ Buttonwillow CW#1; 1:38 @ Laguna. 386 hp / 3380 lbs. Would do better in a PDK.

Good for you........

No need for everyone to get all worked up. They'll offer both. PDK may get released first, but I'm certain manual will follow. To each his own. It'll be a spectacular car with either transmission.

Whoever started this rumor about only PDK, may still have few 997 GT3's to download

Why would Porsche manufacture 991 Carreras in PDK and MT, and restrict the racy version GT series to PDK? If they are in business to sell as many cars as they can, which I'm sure they are, then why limit the options for buyers!

Ferrari did stop offering manual gearbox, didn't they ?

Gearboxes are expensive to develop and if the buy rate is too low then they loose money.

It is all about the buy rate. Moreover there is no point to make a cup car with manual gearbox anymore, it is all about performance, who cares if the driver has any fun, so even the motorsport division will not push for manual.

We'll see .. I love rumors

100% of all GT3's have been sold with manuals up until now so I highly doubt a company like Porsche, who values it's heritage, would just switch over without any transition.

Think about it guys.. you can still get a regular 991 Carrera with a manual, RIGHT?

ferrari moved to F1 gearbox with the higher perf strad before the rest of the line... just saying....

PDK u see today may need some "tweak". but once you really driven a well designed "autobox" i be hardpressed to go backwards.

If Porsche can deliver a paddle shifting system like the Superfast F1 system in the Scuderia- no one would care about a manual, but the PDK I saw in the 991 wasn't close to this.

This is where I am. Even though current PDK might not be perfect it's pretty great even for an old time MT fan like myself. Waiting for the new GT3 and not sure which way to go even if there are options, but I'm leaning. Porsche will continue to improve PDK, IMO, especially if they plan to put it in the GT cars.

The only great street sequential gearboxes are in 4 cars: 16M, 599GTO, Scuderia and Aventador. I would take them over any manual gearbox.

Everything else with a single clutch is slow and not fun. Everything with a dual clutch is uninspiring and boring. I have driven all the street dual clutch in the market: PDK/DCT/SSG/DSG. I would take a manual gearbox over all of these.

From all what was announced so far it was saying that gt3 car is no more. It will be same 'S' car with an aerokit and lowered suspension.
If they will keep using same motor from current 4L RS it will be one story, if it will be X51 GTS motor, then, who knows. It may be better than old one, or may be worse.
All I know current Aisin gearboxes do not last long on a track and new 7sp boxes are same aisin. So, it may be an issue.

bingo....that's the biggest problem I have with their new manual...it's not really a "manual". It's just a retro-fitted PDK box....part of the continued consolidation of production.

You drove a PDK on track?

While I've never been fortunate enough to drive a Ferrari F1 tranny, even on the street I do have probably more track experience with PDK than anyone on these forums....maybe more track experience than anyone with PDK in the USA....I've been tracking a PDK car since September 2008....PDK isn't perfect..BUT...it's not slow and does a really great job on the track.

I sure would love to hear what faults you guys think PDK has on the track.
