Bye Bye GT3. Hello GT3 RS.
Well, it's finally done.
My 2011 GT3 (guards red - 7500 miles) is gone to make way for a 2010 GT3 RS (white/red - 5300 miles). The car was pretty loaded by the original owner. Quite a few GMG mods have been added. See below.
Specs:
Carrara White/Red decals
Full leather interior
Sport bucket seats
Porsche crest in headrests
PCCB
Front axle lift
Dynamic cornering lights
Universal audio interface
Sound package plus
Mirror attachment point finish
Instrument dials and sport chrono guards red
Key pouch leather
Sun visors alcantara
Storage bin alcantara
Illuminated door sills
Sport Chrono
PCM
Satellite radio
Original MSRP $163,145
It has the following additions to it:
GT3 RS 4.0 Steering wheel
Full body clear bra
GMG WC 19" Centerlock wheels with Sport Cups
GMG headers
GMG center exhaust and cats
Carbon fiber Illuminated door sills
Sharkwerks fire extinguisher
Carbon fiber mirror tops
Carbon fiber sport chrono pod
Carbon fiber door trims
GMG RSR roll cage
Schroth Harnesses
Guards limited slip differential
Rennline pedals and floor boards
GMG World Challenge sway bars
GMG rear adjustable links(dog bone) kit
GMG thrust arm kit with bushings
GMG front antibump and tow steer kit
Lightweight battery
Stainless steel brake lines with StopTech big brakes/Endless pads
I did my first track day with the car yesterday and what a blast it was! The GT3 RS is a much better track car than the GT3. Period. Any of you telling yourself otherwise are wrong. It is worth the money. Don't think twice - you need to own an RS.
Where should I start? The car is faster than a GT3 both subjectively and objectively. It feels lighter and more planted. The biggest difference (huge) is the gearing. The engine breathes to redline A LOT quicker. This initially caused me problems because I would hit redline and not notice it. I would smash the throttle to pass people not realizing how fast redline comes up on you. Once I got used to it, it was perfect. There were corners that I used to have to shift down to 2nd in the GT3 to get enough power, but in the RS I stay in 3rd and the power is there. The car is more stable at high speeds as well. The chattering of the lightweight flywheel is also music to my ears. It is a step beyond the GT3 for rawness and track feel. I should have bought one 2 years ago instead of talking myself out of it.
One of my favorite things about the car besides its track capabilities (okay, I'm ready for the abuse - bring it!) is the front axle lift. I would never order it from the factory for the $3500 price since splitters are relatively cheap, but it is a huge help on driveways, speed bumps, and angled surfaces.
The car also draws more attention than the GT3, which is both good and bad. My least favorite thing about the car is the red dials, but they are growing on me and they fit with the car color scheme. The carbon fiber interior with GMG RSR roll bar is great as well.
Most satisfying of all is that my 4 year old son has been asking for one forever and he loves it more than I do. (see avatar) He runs around the house chasing his brothers and sisters making loud engine noises because he is a GT3 RS winning the race.
I have been pondering this move for some time. I'm glad I made the switch. I look forward to more track days with it and meeting more GT3 RS (and yes even GT3 ) owners.

Nice! Glad this car went to a fellow RL'er and that you've already managed to squeeze in a track day. I was seriously considering this car myself.
I wonder how much the aftermarket suspension colors your judgement of GT3 v. GT3RS? I guess we'll never know.
