Default ALMS Laguna Seca May 11th & 12th!

Interesting first day of racing at the American Le Mans Series at Laguna Seca in Monterey, CA. Today was qualifying for the AMLS tomorrow. One note-worthy aero-dynamic change this season of the 911 GT3 RSRs is a new mirror housing and attachment arm! See photos of the two Flying Lizard Porsches! The non-RSR's hold on to the older style rear view mirrors (see photos 3rd & 4th) used by teams like Flying Lizard last year!

The Pirelli World Challenge Championship race today also featured many Porsches, but the Volvo S60 of Randy Pobst finished first, followed by Alex Figge in another Volvo S60 and Andy Pilgrim third in a Cadillac CTS-V! Looks like China is moving up the ranks of racing motorsports!

More photos at the 987 Forum, including the team presentations of Flying Lizard and TRG teams!

Saturday's 6 hour ALMS race. Flying Lizard didn't do as well as expected. TRG's #66 won its first GT Challenge victory of the season. Jeroen Bleekemolen, the 2010 class co-champion, beat GMG Racing’s James Sofronas by 12 seconds at the finish! Bleekemolen drove the TRG Porsche 911 GT3 Cup with Bret Curtis and Emilio Di Guida.

Last photo of Muscle Milk's winning #6 Honda-powered with drivers Graf/Luhr in the prototype class after the finish!

Thanks for posting!

My favorite race of the year, but they keep moving it around the calendar. This year with Mother's day it was a no go!. In past year's it's been a great away race to go to. Drive down Friday, see the race Saturday, head home early Sunday. Awesome for us in Portland. Oh well, I'm sure the date will change again next year...
