Question 997 GT3 - What aftermarket wheels and other touches...

Wanted: Pictures of modified 997 GT3s.

After reading many threads on this forum for many years, I am happy to finally have a good reason for my first post on Rennlist.

I am in the process of closing a deal on a 2007 997 GT3 and becoming a proud new owner sometime over the next couple of weeks.

The car looks fantastic "stock" and better people than I have come to the design and profile decisions that make the car what it is today.

However, that notwithstanding I am keen to add a little bit of my taste and personality to the car.

Nothing wild or "max power" I would hasten to add! No neon undercarriage lighting for massive bonnet vents, but something alond the lines of:

1. Some tasteful aftermarket wheels - HREs, ADV1. and OZ come to mind.

2. Perhaps a removable racing stripe

3. Painting the stock wheels, anthracite or copper (as opposed to black).

4. Some sort of little touch to the body work to break up the sea of colour along the flanks? Ferrari does this with their Scuderia shield (liked by some, loathed by others!) other cars have vents (like an AMG SL55). The Ferrari Boxers had that wonderful two tone paint work, but I don't think it would work on a GT3.

Photographs and hyperlinks would be most helpful.

Not sure what I have in mind, but all suggestions and idea are welcome! If I put any into practice, I'll be sure to put up some shots of the car in due course.

The car will be used on the street and for touring for the most part. I envisage a couple of visits to the track, but it will primarily be a road car.

Will you be tracking or street use only?

realistically i wouldnt touch a thing.
The things that most GT3 owners add to their cars serves a purpose and has a function.

Painting wheels would be a waste of perfectly good OEM finished wheels.

Best thing to do personalize is find a nice set of aftermarket wheels, but bare in mind that by removing the stock wheels it can give your car the appearance of a carrera with GT3 aero added.

Seeing the general consensus is to leave it as is. Point well made and duly taken, but wondering if there are any pictures of some custom or individulised GT3s out there?

Doesn't need to a be massive mod, something subtle is fine as long as it done by the owner.

Pimp my ride , baby - you haven't even got the car yet! Despite which you have some Stygian urge to 'improve' something that trained designers have spent a lifetime perfecting.

Chill out Mate

Good set of spr racing or rennline pedals is the perfect starting touch - marks your individuality on the (poor) car and functional too, to some degree. then a GoPro and a mount so you can get some good footage for all kinds of reasons plus minimize withdrawal during winter etc..

Lots of pics on the forum of both pedal sets and a 1 hr diy fit max. Enjoy the car and post some pics! Agree on the OZ or Gold BBS - useful to have a second set of wheels for track tires and you can paint them although the anthracite will look excellent w seal gray IMO.

cheers & welcome!

Ps - search is your friend - search this and the 997 forum and you'll find more than you can imagine within a few tries.
PPS - the fee for membership will be returned as soon as you find 2-3 of the items you 'need' on the Mem only classifieds which is chock of stuff each day at prices that usually make the fee irrelevant - no pressure of course, just my experience as I unpack the 997 Billet shifter mechanism and new cup cables from one of the regulars in perfect nic at 40% off the PC price - thanks Slow!

Matt

Well, I've ordered a pair of these. Just a tiny little door decal to start! I think it's nice and subtle... IMO!

Imo I'd forget the 997.1 - those who know already know, and those who don't, we'll don't. You also will be able to remember it after a few days like the silver gt3 on the blue tho.
