A valid point. However, in street cars, it is judged safer to run (in the US) with windows doown. I am not saying I agree with it, but that is the way it is here.

In the uk it's the rule to wear long sleeves with most TD organisers, can understand it in an open cockpit as you'd be mad not to anyway with all the cr4p flying about but in a closed car it's supposed to be additional protection from glass fragments. Not sure it would make much difference.

And it is much easier for debris to get to the driver, as it would be much easier to have your hand/arm sticking out in a big crash when the car rolls over.

Moreover, ever driven 250 km/h with the windows down???

If that is the argument they should ban open face helmets and oblige everyone with a closed-face one to close the visor.

Yep, never seems to make a lot of sense. I see you are in Belgium, I'm back at Spa in early October, when you there next?

No idea. I never plan far up-front. Somewhere next month certainly. I usually wait out the weather and reserve 2 days up front if not sold-out.

What organisation are you going with? (can continue in PM not to drag the thread off-topic).

Thought everyone might enjoy an on-board lap from this year's Rolex 24 winner John Potter in a completely stock 2011 911 GT3 RS 4.0...

Hey Trak - how come none of you have wind deflectors on the leading edge if you're driving with windows down? Must make a big difference to airflow around rather than into the car. Excuse to buy more CF

Will take a look - we use them off road to allow open windows but cut down on dust coming in the vehicles in the bush.

Like this but I'd imagine narrower would still make an impact...

Here is a battle I had with a 7 Cup at Barber. During the warmup session I ran a 1:34 in traffic only to have abs lockup in the museum turns. With no codes and no remedy I had to dial it back on the brakes. Couldn't muster better than 36's after that. Hung in there as long as I could.

Very tidy & efficient lines! Well done! I wonder...have you ever tried staying in 4th in T1? In many cars, it allows you to brake less & use more throttle all the way down the hill...and then downshift in the brake zone for T2...

I don't think I have tried that. Barber is very deceiving in some places you would think you should downshift but shouldn't. I had been downshifting for 11 (left at end of back straight) for the longest until I watched some tv closely and in car from some pro guys. I think that shaved a second by itself. I will definitely try 4th in turn 1 now.

Yup, T1 and T11 are two corners where 4th can really work well to carry a lot more entry speed. Another is T7, leading to the Museuum corner. Stay in 4th, carry more speed over the first curbs, then downshift at the second brake point down the hill
