Track videos thread
Folks, I started a sticky thread in the 996 GT3 forum, listing all the "must read" threads for the 6GT3.
If it goes well, we can apply it in this forum too. Anyway.. VR had an idea about a track video thread. I think it's a good idea to make a video repository thread, with members posting their vids from various tracks around the world. Let me know what you think.. Best, |
excellent idea, it will be nice to have such a repository. Although it will be a bit rough in the beginning to sift through the effects of car type, setup, and skill, I think some useful information will rise to the top.

My last hitout at Mt Panorama in Bathurst in the Clubman over Easter:

Very nice idea.personally I'm (still) not too familiar with tracks, but having possibility to watch vids from other 6gt3 buddies around the world is exiting and always useful.I'm supporting the idea.

It is a good idea.
http://www.trakcar.com/GT3RS/video.html Track video thread has my name on it ;-) |
just a thought, and I'm sure I'm being too idealistic, but maybe only videos with data overlayed should be posted? Just a thought. Videos w/o data are ok and good for showing lines but I think they are far less useful than ones with data (rpms, mph, etc)

Thanks, John!
Something else we can do, as time permits (if folks are interested) is perhaps encourage coaching commentary from those familiar with the track shown? |

I like the data overlay part as well. Since I don't have that, I don't have to post my slow laps

Great, thanks guys.
Regarding vids with data overlay , they are great but let's not exclude the ones without. Dave, I think that comments on the vids (from real coaches or guys like me : ) ) are in the nature of the thread and very welcome..Let's keep it relaxed though, and see how it goes. Fast laps or perfect lines are nice but vids from various tracks, coming from drivers with mixed experience, (and not necessarily technically correct) can also be very enjoyable. For easier reference, I think that you should post an embedded vid or link to a vid including: Track name: 1. Driver (Member/user name if applicable) - Car type - lap time (if applicable) - includes data (Y/N) - date Tip for properly embedding YouTube vids: [ yt ]insert_video_code_here[ /yt ] example: Pick a youtube vid and from the browser, copy the combination of letters and numbers after the =. like this : http://www.youtube com/watch?v=ySvMKZXXJFo [yt$]ySvMKZXXJFo[/yt]*Remove the red dollar sign click Submit Reply done. |
Like so?
Maybe one where we have reference links to tracks from only GT2 and GT3 cars? Just to park them and for others to scout out a track before going there and perhaps see what a decent traget lap time is to shoot for. And another to upload your latest video to be commented on by others' and coaches, ask for advice, learn from it, etc. Or in my case ignored and laughed at ;-) TRAKCAR '10 GT3RS VIR Data TRAKCAR '10 GT3RS Homestead Data TRAKCAR '10 GT3RS Autobahn South Data TRAKCAR '10 GT3RS Road America Data TRAKCAR '10 GT3RS MOSPORT Data TRAKCAR '10 GT3RS Mid Ohio Data TRAKCAR '10 GT3RS Watkins Glen Data TRAKCAR '10 GT3RS PBIR in the dark Data TRAKCAR '10 GT3RS Sebring Data TRAKCAR '10 GT3RS Sebring in the dark Data TRAKCAR '10 GT3RS Roebling Data TRAKCAR '10 GT3RS Road Atlanta Data TRAKCAR '10 GT3RS Barber Data |
Great idea VR and nicely spec'd John thanks! This will be a veritable wiki of tracks, lines, braking points ... and driving styles ;) Looking forward to it as a replacement for the ESPN3 I don't get down here in low bandwidth land!
