Default Can a .2 GT3 RS airbox fit a .1 GT3?

I'm wondering if a .2 GT3 RS airbox can fit a .1 GT3 non RS? I know the decklid would have to be modified because of the dual intakes (or swapped for a .2 RS decklid), but aside from that would it fit? Are the throttle bodies the same size? Thanks.

I believe the answer is yes, I think in fact Manthey do exactly this in one of their engine kits ... but as you point out the decklid is the the problem here ... I think Manthey cut it ... it might be worth shooting them an email to discuss ...

yes you can fit the 997.2 GT3 RS air filter to the 997.1 GT3. i had the 7.2 filter on my 7.1 RS but you need to swap your declid as the air blower will be in contact with the air filter housing. same throttle size and no CEL.

hope that helps..

I am wondering why you would do this? I had a aftermarket unit on my C2S and it didn't do anything but make some more sound. I wouldn't imagine that the .2RS unit would make any extra power. Is it for looks?

I've heard that the intake accounts for some of the HP difference (not all of it) between the .2 GT3 and .2 GT3 RS. I would assume with the correct decklid you could at least get a little more HP out of it, especially with a tune that could take advantage of it. I'm going to be changing the rear spoiler and decklid anyway, so I figured I might as well go for the dual RS airbox. Not positive on what spoiler to go with but I will have it made to work with the intake... And worst case, what's wrong with more sound? Haha.

If you want more power, change your cats, if you want to accelerate quicker, do a 4.0 Ring and pinion. I would be surprised if you get more the 2 HP from an airbox.

The mod list is long. The ring and pinion is a great idea... LWFW is also on the list of things to do soon. The airbox is mostly just an added bonus with the new spoiler. But I'll take anything it gives me.

Have you done cats and the 32:8 ring and pinion?

I still have stock exhaust on this car, did it all on the last car. LWFW is great (had it on the C2S, and now the GT3), the 4.0 ring and pinion came with the car as well, it makes a big difference over stock. The other one that will help is weight reduction, I am in the middle of a sunroof delete right now...drops 45lbs from the top of the car.

Wow... 45lbs for the sunroof? I didn't realize it was that much. Lightweight battery is done, center muffler bypass, WEVO engine mounts, and EVO tune. I really need to get some new wheels. The stock wheels are very heavy. COR and OZ make some extremely lightweight wheels.

I run Volk TE37's on the track, very light...but ugly IMO. I use my car as a DD as well as track, so my OEM battery stays. My shop is working on an exhaust that is headers to a single centre muffler. More power, but not too loud if things go well.

Sounds like a great GT3. I hope the exhaust works out. Volk has some great racing wheels. COR / Axiom have some 19" wheels that are 17lbs front and 19lbs rear that look great. Same with OZ (the Superforgiata). Decisions decisions... Thanks for all the info and help.

Are you doing the sunroof delete locally?

The mounting points for the airboxes are different IIRC. Between that and getting the dual intakes to mate with your custom decklid you'll need to experiment quite a bit... not a worthwhile mod IMO.
